I'm still playing it, and so are a number of other people, but don't expect GalCiv 3 for a while - Stardock's focus will be on Elemental for quite some time.
Yah, I just got into this game about 6 months ago, just working my way through the campaigns before starting up some hugish map.
Almost at the end of the Twilight campaign, in the scenario where I have to build a terror star. Perhaps this is the last scenario in the campaign?
I'm still playing albeit quite slowly. It used to take me 4 to 6 weeks to finish a gigantic all abundant game. I started my current game on 6/26 and have no clue as to when I'll finish. It just seems that I don't have the consecutive hours to devote to the game that I used to have and so progress at some points can be very slow. Still, playing slowly is better than not playing at all.
I just finished up a game today on a gigantic map that took about a month to complete. I usually try to submit a game every other month or so, time permitting.
I think the community is still very much alive but admittedly not as active in the forums or the Metaverse/AltMeta as in previous years. People are still playing GalCiv II/DL and it's two expansions, DA and ToA as far as I can tell judging by the questions posted in the forums and scores submitted.
I'm still enjoying the game (currently playing ToA 2.03) and experimenting with new strategies and learning new things all the time which keeps everything fresh for me.
As far as the development of a GalCiv III game down the road is anyone's guess. After all, Stardock just released EWOM recently and I'm sure the focus and support for that game will be their major priority for quite some time to come.
Similar here, still playing it from time to time, though my focus is currently more on other, quicker games (e.g. less than 1 hour to finish)
I'm happy to see new players discovering the game!
Regarding GalCiv III it's indeed going to take a while before that is worked on. Which is maybe not a bad thing seeing that Civ V was just released; GalCiv III might get better attention and sales if it's not in direct competition with another title.
Still playing Dreadlords, only it hasn't been that long. It's about time for me to try the next add-on, though.
I'm still playing. I go back an forth a lot. I'll play a game or two (which can take weeks or more) and then I'll go play something else for a while, but I love this game and I always seem to come back to it! ![]()
I'm still playing. I recently downloaded the high-res graphics mod and that's gone quite a way to keeping me interested. If I'm going to be staring at a bunch of solar systems against a starry nebula background, it certainly doesn't hurt for it to be a cool-looking nebula.
I think though that I'm getting bored of Terrans. Their tech tree is nice, but I find myself repeating the same strategy every game.
Yep still playing (right now on Suicidal on Medium Galaxy) and almost finished just 3 races to crush. Also playing Some Elemental too.
If you want to know right now SD is doing Elemental support, then 2 expansions for Elemental and then support for GCII in between there some where and then most likely GCIII.
I'm going to start GalCiv II real soon and it will be on a new laptop with Windows 7.
But I wonder, will there be compatibility issues with Windows 7 ?
I do have GalCiv1 on my xp laptop but from what I understand, GalCiv 1 won't run on Windows 7 so maybe I won't bother with that game any longer.
-.-
I just started to play yesterday. I play on an IMac 21.5" and Windows XP. The screen is huge and I decided to play on Immense map (not sure how many weeks/months it's going to take me to finish).
So far I'm impress, but the game seems a little complicate at first. Of Course I did not try a tutorial so it's my fault.
GalCiv 2 ultimate is my first game out of the three I just purchased; the other two are Civilization 5 and Sins of a Solar Empire. Will see later on these two. I think I'm set for 2 or 3 years of play time ![]()

I've been playing GalCiv2 on Windows 7 64-bit just fine. I have the game on CDs, but I usually install it from Impulse, if it makes any difference.
Hey guys. GC2 noob here. I just picked up the Ultimate edition today. I'm a liitle late to the party but it's nice to see quite a few people still playing.
Are there any must have mods I should know about?

The High-Resolution mod is very nice.
I started playing GalCivII again after a few year hiatus! ![]()
A big fan of GalCivII - been playing on and off for years. Different races, different size maps, various difficulty levels. (Generally Small maps, quick games, large maps, long games)
Currently playing on gigantic map as Korath Clan, started on the 14th
I'm still playing^^ but I only play like 2-3 games a year.... When I play, I binge on it for 8+ hours a day on huge/gigantic maps
