neutral hero jumped me

hmmm.  this is the second time this has happened to me.  at first someone from the forums thought that it must have been a creature-adventurer, but in my newest game i ran past a merchant hero lvl. 1.  talked to him, decided i didn't want him so i said no thanks.  next turn he attacks me.  i beat him in battle and was accused of being a murder.  what the heck is up with that?

Happened to me to in my current game, I was pretty confused as well. He tries to kill me but fails, but killing him in self defense makes me the bad guy :(

if you ignore them, those neutral guys will whisper you about how a town nearby is unprotected. they are for hire, but if you don't hire them, they are out for themselves and may take your towns.

he didn't attack my town, he attacked me directly.  i was nowhere near a town.  but oh well.  i reloaded and he didn't do it that time for some reason.

i know but he didn't attack a town.  he attacked my sov. out in the middle of nowhere.  i didn't think they did that.  i know that they may attack an undefended town but apparently they attack units too.  though if this is actually the case and not a bug then we shouldn't be penalized for killing them in self defense.

Same thing happened to me, which is a good thing. origanaly the NPC's were suppose to have their own agendas not just wander around the same few tiles waiting to be hired or eaten up by monsters. I hope they keep this in, they should also be able to take over your towns if you leave them empty. However instead of killing them when you re-capture it, some shoul have the option of joining you. Wether they take it or not is up to them...

Also what the hell happened to fallen npcs? This was the first complait from beta testers when we realised that all the npc's were were bumping in to were human. Hopefully the community NPC pack will fill this void.

It's not that you're being ATTACKED by them it's that you had pathing that landed on their current location.

To wit, you clicked on a square the round before, the yet to be hired champion moved there and on your automove to complete said pathing, you "attacked" the champion.  It's the only way you can attack them and will give you the "Oh noes, you're a mur-diddly-erdler!" warning from those of your ilk (kingdom or empire).
