Can't locate my custom Tech Trees

When I save a custom tech tree to the ToA tech trees folder I an only find it through the tech tree editor.  If I go to the folder where I saved it I cannot find the file, I can't access it in game, and Galactopedia doesn't see it.

Also when I go to open it using the editor it has a lock icon on it.

I'm running Windows 7.
