Bug? Able to use several exact same type of magic item several times

Dont know if this supposed to be like this but I can use several type of magic items more than once.

Rings and amulets - so I want a high defense? I buy ring giving +1 defense 255+ times! For 50gp/+1 defense. Seems pretty broken to me. Comments?

I seem to remember there being a conversation about this exact thing recently, so I'd expect it to be addressed in some way.
