Golem too powerful to start with.

I was playing a game where I got the tailsman that let me get a sand golem right from turn one. I was then able to steam roll my neighbors without more then a whimper. This seems like a too powerful of an item to be giving out at the start of the game.

I had the same thing happen to a game where I got the golem in turn one and then pounded my neighbors with it for the next 100+ turns.  I thought it was overpowered, but for some reason the map was depleted of iron mines so it balanced out my armies nicely.  If I had swords available then I could have just walked over everyone.  But since I was stuck with leather armor and spears, the golem was a necessary addition to my army.  I thought it might have been intentional, but I'm not sure.

I've gotten the sand golem on my last game. Its all in what you make of it. It was a nice savior for the RPG aspect, but I intentionally didn't go looking to steam roll the opponents.

My opinion is if you think it is over powered, sell it or don't use it. This applies to any strategy that you think is over powered. They put things in like this to help people that are having problems with the level of difficulty, but you as a player can choose to not use those things. Think of them as a personal cheat.

I appreciate what you are saying necrobraska; however, I don't want to have to hold myself back in order to have a fun fair game. It is either overpowered and needs to be changed, or it is balanced making it fair game to use anyway you might think of.

i think the sand golem should be bumped up to maybe a level 2 notable, or a level 2 quest.

In regards to Summoning Tokens... the sand golem token is way too powerful to find as a level_0 notable location. I found one at the start of a game and instantly was killing AI sovereigns... was so easy I quit.
The sand golem token should probably be moved to a level_2 or level_3 notable location.

Also the AI opponents are currently too stupid to use summoning tokens.
