Combat ending screen... what does this symbol mean...

When combat is done, the results window pops up showing stuff for each person.  It shows a heard to indicate how much health that unit lost, it shows a sword to indicate how much damage the unit dealt, then it shows a crown(?).  What does this symbol represent?  i was thinking it was experience (never actually checked), but then I had someone gain a level while getting 0 crowns(?).

I know what you mean, no idea what it is either. But its nothing to do with experince, I checked what they get in experice compared to that crown number, no connection between the 2.

I regard to experince, I was sure the combat rating of the group you attck = gilder you get and xp, but seen now that it does not alway add up. I mean sometimes you only get 5 xp sometimes you get more, but take it, it has to do how easy the fight is or what lvl difference between you and the enemy.

Have we ever gotten an answer on this?

 

Kinda funny really.

 

A  perfect example of the kind of things with this game that have no explanation and are utterly non-intuitive. As much as I love Stardock and Elemental, little things like this just make me shake my head with confusion.

I think it is XP gained. Just a guess though. The other possibility (being the crown is the same as your kingdom button) it being some kind of of prestige?

Yes indeed, the lack of documentation make sit hard to tell what is bug, what is not and what is just a unexplained concept. It isn't helping the game's image.

If it's XP gained, then the xp rules go something like....

-Your sovereign always gets 50xp

-Your heros may or may not get xp regardless of what they do.

-Troops either get 5 or 15 xp, not related to enemy level or amount.

 

I assume it's displaying xp gains, and none of that stuff is hooked up or processing correctly. I think it's tracking XP accurately internally though, for the most part.

XP is split evenly among everybody who can earn it, so if it was XP it should be the same for sovereigns/champions and 0 for normal units.

I'm really not sure what it is either. It's kind of a mystery.

Normal units can earn XP also, they just don't let you know when they level up (it shows up in announcements, otherwise nothing).  It just boosts their health though, so...

I honestly dunno.  I assume it's XP, but I've noted several times that units who got zero "crowns" leveled up from the same battle.  So... Maybe it's just a ranking of how awesome you are or something.  >.>

I've noticed that enemies get it as well. Maybe it's a measure of contribution? I'll have to play around with this and check.

I'm pretty sure it's something like this.  I've noticed that my elementals tend to get the lions share of crowns in late battles, sometimes joined by my sov, mostly because their AOE and ranged abilities often have them carrying the battle while my troops nip out back for a smoke.

My guess is it's your notoriety gain. According to the manual you are supposed to earn fame based on your exploits. The higher your level of fame (good or bad) the higher level wife you can acquire and the stronger the offspring from your dynasty. There's no account of this in game anywhere that I can find though.

Some people won't marry you if your reputation isn't to their liking. I tried to marry Janusk once to one of my female sovereigns at start of game. And was told he wouldn't consider marrying me until my reputation was 1.0. So it seems to have to do with this like you say.

I saw this in the tutorial videos and wondered about it too.  In this video (with Brad narrating) both the enemies run, one right off the bat and the other just before dying and yet when the "victory" screen came up, both the enemies got 50 crowns or whatever that symbol is...

i am fairly certain its the percentage of the experience going to that unit for the battle, with units who have no number sharing whatever is left over

had an army of 8 guys, 2 were summons, the rest champions of about the same level, atleast initially. after each battle  the two summons each showed a 20, and the leader of the group, a champion showed 50. the leader leveled after each battle, the two summons leveled after every other battle. the rest of the team didn't level at all. this would make sense if they were trying to level off of 10 percent of the experience shared amognst the 5 of them. 50 +20+20 = 90 percent going to those 3 units who power leveled.,

has anyone seen it where the combination of these numbers is greater than 100?

Could also be morale lost/gained in the fight or how much the unit contributed to the enemies' morale "damage".

The crown is the XP you get. Just check your sov's experience bar after a battle. You always get 50 EXP per battle, which is 5 on the bar (50/10). And the 0 crown your troops get is a bug, they also get 50 EXP. Again, just check their experience bar.

i have gotten alot more than 50 in a single fight, and i have gotten a lot less than 50. its got to be something other than the amount of xp, like a percentage of the total that the unit gets. heck, isn't the first level is like 10xp and the second 40? that means a single fight, regardless of difficulty would get you 2 full levels, and that ain't happening.

its something else.
