Influential Cheating

Out of curiosity, at the beginning of a new game (before I even made my first move), I selected various sectors on the map, and clicked on the Influence button. It didn't take long for me to realize that I could exactly pinpoint the homeworlds of the other Races. Should it work this way? Or should the influence of a sector only display for ones I have actually had a presence in? And... perhaps it should show it only for Races I have encountered in the game?

What do you think?

I don't think it's a big deal. On small maps you can usually quickly tell where most of a race's planets are just by seeing where they influence. If you don't like this time-consuming way of getting more precise info, just don't do it.

I also critized that in the bugs forum... one shall not be able seeing the influence of someone, one has no contact with.

I did not mainly mean the influence checking for the sector but selecting influence on the minimap and seeing their influence in adjactant sectors. Not a big deal but still patchworthy I think...

OTOH, it makes a certain amount of sense given the backstory.

Earth didn't just come across the other Empires. Diplomats had been in contact via the stargates before the Hyperdrive was created. So, if you are willing to invest the time on the F2 tac map, it stands to reason you could at least locate their "Central seat of power", i.e., where they had the most influence when the race for expansion started.
