Sad collapse of Elemental

I predicted this would happen more than 6 months ago, but this article best describes the collapse of Elemental.

"Elemental: War of Magic is straight-up busted. From broken gameplay systems to a host of bugs and crashes, it sounds like everything that could go wrong with the launch of Elemental did."

Also, I believe some user who has been accused of trolling warned that combat is the weakest link and provided examples of depth and attention to detail in King's Bounty that Elemental should use as a role model.

And didn't that user also warn about many obvious organizational deficiencies within Stardock that would bring this about?

Maybe you should all apologize to that user now and be more receptive in the future, obviously you didn't take this project very seriously and were completely irrational and overly defensive when you were confronted with any form of criticism.

I hope the lesson is learned.

If it is not learned this topic will be locked shortly as a continuation of an infantile mentality that views any dialog and criticism as personal hostility.

I think you should grow out of that mentality now with theses kind of appalling results.

So how is a post like this supposed to be helpful? You guys suck and the game sucks too kind of posts aren't constructive. I understand being unhappy about things, but really....the "this game is broken" posts are just complaining, and it doesn't help anyone.

NO, it'll be due to full of themselves posters like you. Can you accept the criticism or you will you troll me?

Stardock has said themselves they're not too happy with Tactical battles, so I don't think they've "learned something" from that aspect.  They already know it.

Besides, comparing tactical battles in Elemental to King's Bounty is unfair.  King's Bounty is a tactical battle game, Elemental is a strategy game with tactical battles.  I do agree that King's Bounty offers a ton of inspiration and ideas for Elemental, though.

The game isn't really broken anymore, it's at a stage where it just needs to be tweaked a hell of alot. It's still fun in its current state, and perfectly playable now that it doesnt crash every couple of hundred turns.

sure when I first downloaded it and played it before patch 1.05 the game, was unplayable, random crashes, directx crashes, video card that crashed, etc.

1.05 came and those crashes were a thing from the past, however the game still lagged terribly after 150-ish turns, saving and restarting helped this somewhat

1.06 is now online and now most of the lag seems to have dissapeared too

I'm very happy that elemental is here, I'm stuck home for a couple more weeks because of an accident 2 weeks ago where I hurt my back pretty bad, having difficulty walking. Sitting in my special orthopedic chair is basically all I can do and I was getting somewhat depressed and was extremely bored. Much to my surprise I saw that elemental had been released and I rejoiced and bought it immediatly. The campaign felt like somewhat of an afterthought, but the 'skirmish' mode is where the fun is to be had and fun it is!

Maybe the game got released too soon, but Stardock have been releasing a steady stream of patches (thank you!) and it is perfectly playable for me now. Maybe it needs a bit more fleshing out, deeper tactical battles? different races? But the modding community is already busy I think, so in a couple of months when I start to get bored with the skirmish modes I'm sure there will be plenty of new things to do and try out. New community generated content and developer content alike.

Anyway I like the game and the hours seem to fly by when I'm playing and that's all you can ask from any game: a way to let go from your daily troubles and have fun in a fantasy world where you can do battle with evil foes while building an empire ...
