Caravans/Food Question

So food seems to be one of the tougher resources to gather. Now lets say I have 2 cities I control...my main city is currently +7 food and my second city that I sieged is -3 food. Is it then beneficial for me to establish a caravan between my two cities i.e. will that help increase my 2nd cities food? There are very few food sources on map I'm playing and I've built graneries etc and still not budging.

Also I ams= confused about the global food pool, etc. But I noticed my global food was in the positives (dont recall exact value)...so shouldn't my 2nd city at least be at 0? or is the global simply my +/- food after all is said and done between both cities?

That value just indicates that particular city's net contributions or costs to the total amount of food available.  If one city has +6 food and another has -3 food, then they're both considered fed and your resource screen will show three surplus food (assuming there are no other cities).

Ok that makes sense. I was just worried that folks were going to begin abandoning the -3 city due to starvation. There must be a really good burger joint in that 2nd city.

Yea, that you will not have to worry about, as all resources are global.
