Unit Hitpoints

I've noticed that after a number of battles the HPs of my units has increased significantly if I look at the unit while in the strategic mode or if I let the battles autoplay.  However, when I go into tactical combat, the game seems to revert to the original HPs of the units.. or at least to a # that is significantly lower than the # shown in auto battle or on the strategic map.

Anybody else seeing this?

Also, where can you see the "level" of the unit?  I know they must be levelling up (because their HPs are increasing), but I have no idea where to go to see the unit's xp or level.
