Looking for help with Upgrading Soldiers

Is it possible to upgrade the equipment on existing soldiers? e.g if I train a unit of Peasants and then subsequently research the Warfare tech which gives me broadswords - can I re-equip my units of Peasants with the broadswords? I have not been able to find the ability to do this. Is it possible and if so how do I do it?

No, trained units cannot be reequipped.

There really should be a tech and/or building that allows you to upgrade units for one to another (for a cost)!
