elemental, impulse not verifying update/patch correctly

i purchased the game today, only to find out it had shipped with tons of bugs and required a sizable patch, i registered the game successfully on impulse, then i downloaded all 183.77 meg's of the update, then impulse went to a verifing status and has hung there for the last 3 hours, i havent been able to do anything to get it to resolve.  i remember using impulse in the past and hating it, and now i pay $50 dollars for a game i have to patch and then deal with another buggy interface to try and even play the game, obviously i am very unhappy and looking for a quick resolution to this problem.  it shouldnt take 5 hours to get a brand new game to work out of the box, this is ridiculous.

Try this

You could press the down arrow key in the top left corner of impusle and make sure "Show pre-release versions" is checked since the day 1 patch isn't officially out yet (will be after tonight).  This could be the reason the game doesn't want to show up after the download is done since the patch available is technically a pre-release until the real patch later tonight.

 

If that doesn't work then I would suggest uninstalling the game and installing it directly from Impusle, you might have gotten a bad DVD disc from the factory and the data on it could be corrupted.

thanks alot, not sure why stardock seems so totally inept, or would ship a product with these kind of flaws, but your idea about pre-release versions worked so thanks for taking the time to help me out.
