[Crash] Game not even starting

Well, this is a pretty straightforward problem: if I try starting Elemental (from the Impulse entry or directly from the .exe file, it's just the same), all I get is a black screen, and after a couple seconds an error message from Windows ("Elemental: War of Magic has stopped working"). Then I'm back at my desktop, feeling pretty sad.

The link to my  debug.err file, posted on pastebin, is the following:

I'm on Windows 7 32bit, using an ATI Radeon 5770 with Catalyst 10.7.

If there was a dump zip created in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic, please post that too.

I got something similar: I called up the game (for the first time), a nice dragon image appeared and - nothing.

After a while I found out what the heck is going on: the system insists on starting in full screen. And then tries to access the net.

Whereupon my ZoneAlarm tool (which is used by quite a few people I dare say) pops up a query - do I allow it to access the net?

Unfortunately, the query is hidden under Elementals full screen... irritating.

Possible solution: show a smaller start screen, starting it as a frame. That way, ZoneAlarm could display its question, get it answered, and let Elemental run free...

Ciao,

Klaus

Yes, there's a Elemental0_264-2010-01-16T22-57-06-585.zip file. Is this the right one?

I didn't notice it because for some reason I thought I should be looking into the /data subfolder. ^^"

By the way, I upped it on Dropbox, the link is the following:

Is that the only one that was there? That one is from very early in the beta. If your crash today created one, it'll be named Elemental1_00-2010-08-23--, etc.

Ops, I didn't notice the date of the file either.

Unfortunately it's the only .zip file, yes. There are several other Elemental1_00-2010-08-23T22--.dmp files, but they are all 0KB in size.

Well...

The game updated itself today. Now, when I try launching it, a windows appears with three options (Play, Update, Manual).

Too bad that if I click on Play the games behaves exactly like yesterday.
