Destiny's Embers EBOOK at a real price?

Was looking to get the Ebook of

Destiny's Embers the Elemental Novel when it is released.

Random wants 16 USD for the Ebook, and Amazon Kindle version is a Kindle only format.

Has anyone seen a ebook version of it at a price that is not silly?

I doubt you're going to find anything cheaper. What eReader do you have, if it isn't a Kindle? There are free Kindle apps for the iPhone/Touch/Pad, and a free Kindle program for your computer. I ask, because the $10 Kindle version is probably the cheapest eReader version of the book you can get.

Was afraid of that.

I use a Sony, and prefer EPUB as it works on most devices.

Oh well, 16 USD for a 256 page book is just out of line, IMHO.

Maybe it will get an EPUB one day.

It does come with a campaign... if you assume the campaign "costs" to make $5 and an ebook "cost" $5 to make (those prices include distribution upkeep, paying people to create the distribution systems themselves initially, and also the content creators: programmers/writers) then $10 would be the "break-even" point.

A 60% markup isn't huge, even if it could be made a little cheaper, say, $14.95.

Really, as long as it is cheaper (by a few dollars) than an "IRL" book, I don't see what the problem is.

My Android phone has Kindle, hmm.

Course, my phone does suck so if I was going to go that route I'd grab the PC reader.

Kindle price is listed as 9.99 and the paperback is listed for 10.80 on Amazon (pre-orders).

Still 16USD is a lot for a small page count book. 256 page book in Fantasy is barely a novel.

I do think that it will hurt the sales of it, and then they will say well see the tie is was not worth doing, without ever looking at the real reasons as to why.

Making it a Trade Style Book instead of a true paper back seems just a reason to gouge.

and no an EBOOK has after a print book is made a VERY small cost.

No Shipping, no Inventory Tax, no Shelf space.

Ebooks should be  less to buy, some companies understand this, most do not.

I am not asking for a huge savings, but there should be some.

And putting out the Ebook in a version that works on only one Device, instead of using a format that works with most devices seems short sighted as well.
