fences incompatibility?

I just installed DeskScapes.  When I started it, all the icons on my desk appear (running Fences Pro); when I double clicked the desk to get them to disappear again, they just flashed.

Is Fences not compatible with DeskScapes?

Fences and Deskscapes work fine for me using Win  7 64bit and the latest versions of Fences Pro and DeskScapes.

What OS are you running and what are your resources (memory, video card, etc)?  This might help a Stardock rep if they try and answer.

You probably should also email support@stardock.com and ask for assistance.  Be sure to include information about your system.

There are known compatibility issues between Fences and Deskscapes on Windows XP. You should be fine if you are using Vista/7. Does stopping then starting explorer resolve the issue? Have you restarted your PC since the Deskscapes installation?

Nope you answered my question - I'm on XP... for now.  Windows7 PC is being built and will be here in 2 weeks.

(I can wait...   )

Thanks !!!

Are there any plans to actually FIX those 'known compatibility issues'? Seriously, I have no intention of upgrading to Win7 and these 'issues' weren't exactly listed on the Object Desktop page. If the product is listed as working for XP, shouldn't it work with XP?

I'm not aware of any plans. Fences and Deskscapes are listed as being compatible with Windows XP because individually they are. Unfortunately, I believe that XP simply lacks the API functions required to make this happen.

Here's my problem with that... Both Fences Pro and DeskScapes are sold bundled into Object Desktop, which is listed as being compatible with XP but there's no warning anywhere except the forums (after digging) that the whole bundle won't work together. That doesn't strike anyone as possibly deceptive or as misinformation? It's not even posted as a warning on the FAQ list...

I installed Fences Pro and Deskscapes 3 on my WinXP system yesterday and they did not work together. Unfortunately it was late, so I can't remember if I rebooted, etc. in between. I just uninstalled to get working again.

Is there a list of things to try to get them to work together on XP?

Will they just not work together on XP?
