How Do I Get My Movie?

When I initiate a battle I don't get a movie, even though I have all the movie options switched on.

How do I get my movie when I attack enemy ships during my turn?

When enemy ships attack me I get a movie.  So far I can't find any way to either get a movie when I attack nor does there seem to be anyplace on the interface to get a replay of the movie.

I'm sure it's possible, I'm just missing how do to it.  No doubt after a few games I'll turn the movies off, but for now I want to see everything play out.

I think it's a simple matter of creating fleets, and you'll see the fleet combat.

It gets a bit old after a while.  I kick it up to about 5x, but wish the speed was persistent between games.

I have created fleets and used them but I still don't get a movie.

The only thing that seems to decide it is who initiates the attack.  Even if it's just a duel between two ships I get to watch the movie if I'm the one being attacked.

If I attack either ships orbiting a planet or a ship in space with a fleet I don't get a movie.  I haven't had the opportunity yet to attack a fleet.

Does a movie get generated every time there's a combat?  Maybe there's some interface control somewhere which I missed which allows you to view the movies generated on your turn?

You only get the battle viewer during fleet to fleet combat IIRC.

Strangely enough when I started the next scenario of the campaign I started getting movies.  It may also be that when you change the settings to always show movies that doesn't take effect until the next session.

I've actually figured this out: if you check the clicky-box for "Only show movies if both sides are fleets" that overrides the "always show movies" setting.

(Not that I checked the box; it defaults to being checked and I didn't uncheck it.)

Problem solved!
