Disappearing icons

v.1.00.8787

I've using Fences for a few months with Windows 7.

Some of the icons will disappear and cannot be restored even from a snapshot.

I have to recreate the missing icons each time!

I notice that the icons disappear after a Windows Update!

I have the same problem, but only when I am running a dream animated wallpaper.  It's most annoying

Yes - files on a mapped drive (share on another server). These icons were placed in a separate fence.

But I have another fence with Icons that reference other files on the same mapped drive (share on a server). They are fine.

I have noticed that icons would disappear following a Windows Update and placing my laptop in hibernate mode. Ususally when I'm at home and not connected to my work network.

Seems to be ok if I shutdown and restart.

Note: Refreshing the desktop does not help.

As with several other people, I too have a blank XP desktop missing the icons and the taskbar (wallpaper is present though). At one point system recovery from an earlier date cured the problem, but as soon as I switched off and re-booted the problem returned.

Your taskbar is missing?  I think that is a special case.  Again, we have only seen desktop shortcuts go away for shortcuts that point to files on a network share.  Possibly because Windows removes them if the resource is not available.

This is the issue I have. I had multiple shortcuts pointing to network drive folders and they disappear randomly. Do you think there could be a workaround?

Thanks

Hello. My taskbar is also disappearing, Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit with fences free.

The problem happens often, the last time I checked i copied and pasted two files from my documents folder directly onto the desktop, and then my taskbar disappeared. But to bring it back all i have to do is hit the windows key on the keyboard. But i think it's becoming quite a nuance!!
