Cheats?

Basically, what i want to know is if there will be any usefull "cheats" when this game is released, and what kind of "cheats" you may be thinking of adding?

Look at the modding video. He is teleporting an ogre around. They will very likely include a debug mode which you can "cheat" from. I don't think they will add a cheat system however.

It looked to me like the developer commands "cheats" are probably implemented like GC2's.

I hope that there are at least cheats available in a debug mode setting. Since the modding tools are so extensive, I can see we player-modders needing to test our creations frequently.

yeah for modders some testing cheats/debug would be nice plus cheats are sometimes fun for singleplayer to just have fun.

Although i'd hate to be tempted with them.

well you can already cheat in the current build... reveal the map/remove the fog of war by pressing ctrl+U, and teleport by selecting a unit or stack and press ctrl+T on the destination. ctrl+M also gives you 1000 gold.

still cant summon any hyper advanced alien ships though.

Want.

Anyway, yeah, i hope that there are some good cheats, as they are a must to test stuff, and if you want to customize everything 100%

I'm with Peter Molyneux on this one: cheats and exploits make games a lot more fun for a lot of players and definitely have a place in things (in reference to the Fable II date change exploit).  Sometimes you just want to bash the heck out of everything when you're having a bad day.  Other times you don't have the time to play your best and just want to have fun.

As for hyper-advanced alien ships... isn't that what the mod-tools are for?

Yes, alien spaceships are definetly something i might try and do whenever it gets released, could be fun.

And yeah, sometimes you just wanna completely obliterate your opponent with insane spells you shouldnt be able to, in any way cast at a early level :P

But, cheats can also be usefull for customizition, for an example, a sort of limitless sovereign/faction/unit/whatever-other-non-limitless-editor's-you-might-have-but-havent-told-me-about-or-i-have-forgotten-everything-about.

And, with cheats such as unit spawning, instantly gaining spells and tech's, being able to cast spells anywhere, having unlimited mana/essence, and editing sovereign's and heroes and such , you can make a match even more customized than normal, also, if we can do all this cheat stuff to help your opponents as well, especially with a unit spawner, would a great improvement.
