Changing recordings

Say I got a recording of a nice battle, but it's the last ten minutes of an hour-long session. Is there any way to shorten it down to just the last ten minutes, or do I have to fast forward through the first 50 minutes each time I watch it?

And is it possible to splice the good parts of a recording together from multiple playing sessions?

Game replays aren't videos, but rather a record of all the commands and random number rolls that were made during the game. So it has to play through the entire thing in order to correctly recreate the end.
