Failed to download datafile

What is this "mysterious datafile" the game is trying to download (and failing) then decides to lock-up my computer.

Why isn't this datafile downloaded via impulse? How can I configure the game to run through a proxy to download this datafile?

The alternative being, could you upload the datafiles elsewhere so they can be downloaded?

Edit: Seems like it has been posted before here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/380203 but no replies to the topic.

To control piracy during the beta, and allow for more rapid updating of data files, a lot of the game's data is stored server-side.  That's why sometimes, things seem to change from one play to the next... they can silently update the server-side data for us.

I understand, just slightly frustrated with the datafile thing.

Basically, my friend kept going on about the game, and showed some screenshots, and being honest, it seems the type of game I been waiting for, for ages.

He also said about the beta2 release, and since it looked good, I went ahead and pre-ordered it, and hoped to get the chance to play. Also, being the first order on Impulse as well, I just constantly ran into issues, this being another one of them.

Just means I have to wait till Wednesday to have a chance to experience the beta. Visiting my parents, so I could use the opportunity to use their wifi to try the game out.
