Win 7 and SoaSE

I'm about to upgrade from XP to win 7pro.

I'm copying my files to an external HD for the move, and am wondering if I can just move Sins to my external HD and then copy and paste it into Win7 on the new HD?

Or do I have to install and update from scratch?

ps--does anyone have win7 that doesnt have any problems playing sins?  I read a few posts about people having problems, and am wondering if I'll be able to play sins after this OS change....

i have win 7 (64 bit), and have no issues with sins.

now, you may have to reinstall (id suggust it anyway) due to the game not liking being copy and pasted. (drm and all) but you should have no other issues.

personally I have never had success in copying and pasting any game for either different OS's or even similar OS's, too many things are different with each OS on each computer

ditto, I have two win7 64bit machines and sins runs perfectly on them.

and as Pbead recommended a install of sins and activate ad you should have no problems.

I would just register the game on impulse and let it reinstall it for you. Much safer that way.

Thanks for the replies!  That's encouraging that others have win7 64bit working. 

I have the original CD for Sins, and then I bought Entrenchment and Diplomacy thru impulse.

I think I HAVE to load it from the CD, right?  I'd be happy to load it straight from impulse too...

You can load it straight from Impulse; you don't actually need the CD.

As long as it shows up, anyway.  (Your serial should be attached to your SD/Impulse account.)

I actually used impulse to install sins/entrenchment & diplomacy on my win7 boxes, so it DOES work, assuming it is registered to your SD account, so install the latest impulse log in with your username & password then download the 1.5gb of sins installs

then you should be good to play
