2 questions for a new system

OK, I'm putting together a new system soon. Decided pretty much on the following:

ASUS mobo

AMD Phenom II CPU

4gb mem

500GHDD

650W PSU

Antec 300 case

98GTX or GTX260 or HD4xxx vid card

etc.

1st question is--- How difficult is it to transition current Impulse games to new rig? (Simply istall Impulse and then enter pertinent codes? Re-downloading purchased games on new system?) I have original Sins on disc.

2nd question -- Win XP or Windows7?

1) Get Impulse, log in, download, play.  As long as the games are registered to your account (and they are as far as I can tell), you should be good to go.  No need to re-enter your serial numbers.

2) Windows 7.  There may be a slight learning curve coming from XP, but it's totally worth it.

Thanx Rosco!

What about the issue I've read about with Win7 x64-bit and Sins?

I say go for a 6-core CPU.  (I think you can get a 6 core Phenom for $200 at Tiger Direct or Newegg.)  I don't know that you'll need it, but why not?  Maybe it will add an extra two years of life to your rig once the Octacores are out and quad and six core CPUs become obsolete.

Budget. budget. budget.

Would love to get a six-core, but the PhenomII x2 555 has the good chance to unlock one or both of the other cores and run them stably on stock settings.

I only have ~$750 to play with for a new entire rig including case and vid card.
