At long last, Sonique2 Beta is here, and henceforth, we unleash the power of the Mantis Graphics Engine upon the world like a tornado of Swoob. Here are just some of the new features you will find:

-New interface with maximum functionality and swoob
-New and vastly improved playlist
-Right-Click Menu
-Detachable windows
-Multiple color themes for default interface
-Video support
-Interface Browser for changing skins and remotes
-All powered by the Mantis graphics engine, which enables endless interface possibilities.

KNOWN ISSUES: High CPU usage...which IS being taken care of ASAP.

I suggest everyone try it....with the help of a GREAT community, one official programmer, one official interface developer helped make this player rise from the dead!

WOW, it's a about time! I know they've been through a lot though. Funny thing is, I could remember waiting for the beta while I was a freshman in college. I graduated about a year and a half ago (total time: about 5 years). Microsoft Top That!
Atleast their alpha's were pretty darn good. Thier skinning engine is also pretty sweet.

Yeah, it's quite a story, to be sure:

The original development team was fired...their was a leaked alpha that made the rounds and the Sonique community petitioned TerraLycos to contuinue development...TL then hired ONE person to develop the player...so, in essence, they had to learn MANTIS and then update it...then they eventually hired an interface designer to make this AWESOMELY ORIGINAL default skin...the future looks bright to be sure:)

Nice to see Sonique making its way back. This is the program that got me excited about skins and skinning. As far as i'm concerned they were ahead of their time.

Finally.. I also remember waiting for it. I downloaded alot of their Alpha's and it was sweet, time to update my alpha to beta

Oh, speaking of Sonique skinning. A friend of mine, Syphen, is really making some sweet skins for the new sonique. A few of them have really cool animation effects and color themes and stuff. So make sure you guys check them out
I heard that skinning for sonique's new engine is really great and intuitive and stuff, so I'm sure we'll see some great skins for it.
