I need a few questions answered please

How come when i use icon packager and assign icons for my desktop, i get a bunch of icons that are identical. For example my printer folder and my folder that contains my school work are the same. Is there a way to assign icons for a specific folder?

Part of it depends on what package you are using. The author may not have made unique icons for each and every folder, etc. In other cases, it is not possible to create unique icons for each individual folder.

When i look in the preview of the package..it shows that there is an icon for "Printer" and an icon for games. Now i have not purchased anything, does that change anything? I guess what im trying to ask is, is there a way to pick out icons that i like from different packages and assign them to my desktop icons?

When i click on the tab titled "Look & feel" and then click on preview, it shows alot of icons in that package. But when i go under icons and cursors theres only 6 icons to select from. Why cant i apply those icons i see in the preview to icons in my desktop?

If these are folders you have created on the desktop they will only get the default folder icon. Just by naming it Printer will not cause IP to use the printer icon.

So there is no way to assign a gaming icon to a games folder or a printer to a printer folder? Even though these icons are included in the package?

Manually, right click icon, properties, change icon ( will be on first props. page, Icon tab or Customize tab ).

shell intergration function? im fairly new at this so bare with me. When i right click on the folder i want to change the icon for, i got to properties-customize- it gives me three choices: choose picture, restore default, and change icon. When i click on change icon it gives me default windows icons..so im not seeing anything iconpackager related here.

If it's a trial version (I wasn't aware there was one for IP) that may explain why certain icons are not being applied.

Click Browse, go to (on XP) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\IconPackager, this is where IP folders are, open folder for set you want to use, some will be saved as icons and some will be an icl library file. When open folder if you see no icons then select all files at for file types to see the .icl file.

Let me tell you..you are a life saver. I was able to find it and do it manually. I have one last question. Can i do the same thing for the start up icons? Thank You!

Exactly which icons do you mean, Startup to me means shortcuts in Startup folder to run at Windows startup.

Basically just right click icon and check in properties, if icon can be changed there will be that option, if not there will not be option.

Not manually, if they are not changing when you apply a icon pack, open IconPackager config, Settings, mark sure that all the icon sections are checked to be applied. If you make any changes make sure to click apply changes before close config.

I don't even get that. I have windows 7 home prem. and I have no option in properties to change the icon.

I have 7 Ultimate on my laptop and I do get the option.

My wife's PC has 7 ulti. and she has the option.

Does 7 home premium not have the option?
