Open the Dock only on Hotkey

Hi folks,

i recently started using the Dock and i find it very great, but i also use the taskbar of windows to see my open Programs, so the Dock is just like a Quicklaunch bar for folders and apps that dont fit into the Win7bar, my idea would now be to open the dock only on a Special Hotkey like ctrl+Q or something like that, is this possible?

Thanks for your time

Tim

Hiding a showing the dock via hotkey combo is not currently supported, but I like the idea.

I'll add it to the wishlist for ObjectDock v2

I don't have a release date for the final version of ObjectDock Plus v2 at this time. We're shooting for a new beta release in the summer.

Why not just hide the dock off-screen (unless it's a tabbed dock) until you need it. When you want to use it, bring the mouse to whatever edge the dock is hidden, and it will pop out.

because i use the upper edge for the titlebar (maximizing, tabs in chrome etc.) the right side for scrolling, the downside for my win7taskbar and the left side just for working (tools in Photoshop, links in google etc, i will always hit the edge of the screen while working so i thought why shouldnt the dock not just open when i really want it to open, not sometimes on exident, i have aditional buttons in my mouse that i can layout with shortcuts or other stuff, so this would be really great just tabbing the button and it opens, open a link on the dock or hitting the button again woudl close it then ( or it would auto-hide if i dont use it in a amount of time

Maybe you could check out the Hotspots feature in ObjectDock in the meantime. A tabbed dock could be under your windows until you moused over the hotspot. You can set the delay time so that it doesn't accidentally appear while your cursor is in the hotspot.
