It's got the seamless links between zooming, etc- though it's an RTS dealy instead of a strategic one.  But maybe someone can get some ideas.

Interesting... it's even got a little cloth map.

It looks like an Amazing game. Reminds me of "Sins of a Solar Empire" in that its 4x real time.

I wonder if, in single player, the game auto-pauses when you zoom to cloth map (or if pausing is a normal power in Single Player, and orders can be given during such paused time)

Thanks for the link. Am downloading the demo now. Looks interesting.  Will update after trying it out.

Always enjoyed the ancient era of gaming. (mainly with miniatures)

I may have just found my new addiction.

I'll be getting it later this week after my pocketbook recovers from SC:C.

No, the game doesn't pause when you zoom. You can do that by pressing space. You can also set the game to pause on battle and to pause on like when new enemies turn up.

Well, thats still pretty awesome (especially the pausing when enemies show up/come into range)

I wonder, can you cast orders during pause-mode?

Looks good.  If it dealt with the medieval period, I probably would be more interested, though.

Well, I would probably be more interested if it was turn based strategy with real time tactical battles.

Currently its just frustrating and a lot of going back and forth

Currently I am trying to seige a City in the Athenian league ... but they just have SO MANY UNITS!!!!! Yet I need to try and attack b/c they keep invading by sea near Aegea ... ARRG!!! Is anyone else finding the game frustrating? :p

Yes, I am. It's a little bit of a mess. It's really hard to manage everything, even with a small navy. They need to automate certain things.

I bought this as well based upon this post. Good game, yes frustrating at times because of the constant attacks. I've managed to establish some good defensive points that the enemy just pretty much falls upon and dies, and if things get critical I've got the Companion Cavalry as a mobile force.

Those Athens raids can be stopped if you take their nearest town, and I would also recommend that once your interior is safe, or close to safe, start tearing down walls so you can create additional troops for attacking.

One thing I would like to see for this game is sandbox mode vs. a story driven campaign. I'd like to for the AI to be attacking each other as well. As far as I can tell, its Philip against the word.

But good game, fairly addictive, and lots of potential.

Hm...I wanted to buy this, but if this is true, I will skip it. No sandbox? The AI's are not fighting with eachother? Weird stuff.

I can't wait for the King Arthur expansion however. They gonna add the sandbox mode in that.

Tormy, I could be wrong, but from what I can tell during the single player campaign, the AI are triggered to attack the player only based upon objectives (or the lack of achieving objectives they will keep attacking). In other words, there is no diplomacy to the slightest degree.

It's really a fantastic game, but I've never been a single player campaign kind of guy. I like to fire up 'skirmish' mode and have everyone go at it, AI or MP.

Yeah same here. I prefer multiplayer or sandbox mode in SP. This is why I am not even completed the campaign in King Arthur....and it's an awesome game as well. You should check it out [ Official website: http://www.kingarthurthewargame.com ], but like I've said, no sandbox mode in that either, they gonna add it in the expansion.

There's no sandbox at the moment, but the 'training wheels' are off after you kill Bardylis.

Constant raids can be stopped by taking over certain cities in enemy territory. That said, I had to reload a saved game from just after (maybe 10 minutes?) defeating Bardylis, because the shit hits the fan incredibly quickly, especially if some of Bardylis' hoplites got away during the fight and you've moved your units elsewhere.

All said, it is challenging, but I am enjoying myself immensely.

Tormy-, I don't suppose you could send me a PM with detailed impressions on King Arthur? I've been looking at that since it released and I just haven't pulled the trigger because I'm not quite sure.

Yes, definitely challenging. A lot of action. It is a grind, but a grind in a good way trying to get the enemy subjugated. Supply system as completely cool.

Well, it's definitely one of the best [fantasy/medieval] strategy games which was released in the last couple of years. - Here is a a well detailed review about the game: http://www.incgamers.com/Reviews/1008/king-arthur-role-playing-wargame-review-pc I pretty much agree with everything what they say in this review.

There are some problems with the game, like balance was far from being perfect & no sandbox mode. AFAIK they solved the balance problems with the patches, I don't know if it's true or not [probably it is], because I won't play 'till the expansion is out. [I prefer to play in sandbox mode. :)]

OK, Hegomony is actually quite interesting. I may restart my game after learning a few things. It's not a walk in the park, that's for sure. Quite challenging. And I did see some Paeonians fighting some troops of Western Ordycian Kingdom, although I don't know the extent of the fighting outside of my live area (likely none).
