Windowblinds Installtion Issue

I have a copy of Windowblinds 6.3 enchanced on my Vista system. I had a problem in Vista, and I used a freeware program to do a system fix, hoping it would speed up my system which was really slower than it should have been. But I think by doing that I somehow corrupted windowblinds, which stopped working after I did that. I can't even remember the software used or exactly what it did. My memory could be faulty.

Anyway, I uninstalled windowblinds and gave up. After some time passed, I reinstalled it, but before I did so, I did a registry clean and registry defrag, using ccleaner and or glary utilities. I also deleted the windowblinds folder in the C:/users/public folder..............then I reinstalled Windowblinds. The installation hanged at 96 percent briefly but did install. Unfortunately, 2 things happen, I get a reboot screen, or a CMD configuration screen, sometimes. I ignore the config black screen or window. The progam loads, but will not skin windows vista properly. I get windows classic but with the windowblinds skin colors.................. I do not understand why I have so many problems with this software. Version 3 or 4 did not

give me this kind or issues. I have a Toshiba Satellite A305, with a core 2 duo 2 ghz..............3 gigs of RAM, my graphics score is probably around 3.4

I submitted  several tickets but they have all been ignored, apparently.

This is really frustrating. I don't know what else to do. If anyone has some suggestions, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks!

I'll forward this on to support in the morning when they return to work.

It looks like you initially emailed us on Friday, then again on Monday.  Keep in mind that we're not in on the weekends, and our support system, for better or worse, orders tickets by the last activity, so every time you email, it resets that, and puts you back at the end of the queue.  We did, however respond on Tuesday, so you may want to check your spam folders just to be sure.  Worst case scenario, you can log in here:

https://esupport.stardock.com/

and check the status of your ticket.  The password you'll use should be in the auto-response email you received for ticket #OVU-806160.

Hello. Well, I checked on the status of my ticket, and followed the instructions. The path for windowblinds is correctly installed, so I didn't need to change anything in Regedit. So I downloaded Impulse, did a verify. Impulse told me that Windowblinds is NOT installed correctly. So I tried to do a update, after making sure Impulse was running as an administrator. Nope, cannot do a update. So at this point, I am awaiting to hear what Tech Support at Stardock will tell me. I suppose I might have to try another uninstall, and reinstall of windowblinds 6.3., this time with Impulse. We'll see............ Feel free to make suggestions, I don't know what else to do.........  please and thank you.

3java3 you might consider trying to restore your system to a date prior to using that piece of software to fix your system.  Not knowing what the software was it may have made changes that are causing your current problems that won't get fixed by just uninstalling and reinstalling WindowBlinds.

Unfortunately, that was one big mistake. I should have made a restore point before I tried that system change that messed up Windowblinds. I can't even tell you when the date was, only that it was probably last fall, probably around the middle of October or slightly later. Can't do anything about it now, that's for sure. Unless I am mistaken.

The system should make restore points but it would depend on your settings if a restore point is available for that time period.

Your could try doing a repair but you should wait for someone more experienced with that.  I've done it once, if you haven't done it you should have someone walk you through the process.

Have you tried this?

Start/ All Programs/ Accessories: right-click Command Prompt: Run as Administrator.

Type: sfc /scannow

That's weird. For some reason my vista system will not let me run the command prompt as ad adminstrator. It's grayed out............Ok.........any other suggestions. I'm at my wits end........my fault, still, I wish I knew how to fix this.............bummer

Just now I tried to uninstall windowblinds 6.3 with impulse. I couldn't do it. the Command prompt windows came up and I saw a second or 2 of black.............it would not uninstall with impulse. So I uninstalled without impulse, and tried to install it again with impulse. Same problem. This is beyond frustrating. I have never had problems with software like I have had with windowblinds 6.3. Here's a report from dxdiag sytem info report:

The version of WindowBlinds on Impulse should be 6.4 or 7.09/7.01.  Are you sure the version it is showing is 6.3?

I followed Stardock's support idea of using a special zapper tool to uninstall Windowblinds. I am then asked to reinstall through Impulse. But I seem to keep on getting a stupid black windows command processor window when I try to reinstall Windowblinds. And it makes no difference whether I run Impulse as an Adminstrator or not, I cannot reinstall Windows through Impulse. I can only do it outside of Impulse, but then it won't install properly. There are times when I really dislike Vista. Perhaps I should have waited to got a newer version that will work on Windows 7 which I have on a different partition. But Windowblinds 6.3 is what I have at the moment, I tried to do an update to fix my problems, which will give me version 6.4..........but I keep running into roadblocks. And it's been a week and a half now dealing with this...................so frustrating! And I found out which program I used to fix a system problem which apparently messed up Windowblinds. I think it was Tweak6 or Enhance My Vista. Probably the former.
