Modsynergy.com Reviews WindowBlinds 4.0

http://www.modsynergy.com/Review%2088.htm
"WindowBlinds 4.0 is a new release of the already popular Windows-skinner. What WindowBlinds 4.0 can do for you is amazing. You can download themes to change how Windows looks (the GUI interface is changed). Things such as toolbars, scroll bars, and Start bar can be skinned with the theme you choose to use. There are plethora of skins to choose from and is growing in size each day. The thing that is very cool about WindowBlinds is that it’s totally easy to use. It doesn’t require you to be a genius."

I've always wondered why this hadn't caught on sooner. I mean people mod the death out of the case , but the desktop is the one thing on the PC one looks at the most.

it might be an interesting poll (if it hasn't been done already) to see what everyone uses the software fore. ie, take a look at the most popular skins downloaded and make your choices from the top 5.

do people use it to make a more efficient interface, just to make windows look cool, corporate branding?

i personaly went for the wunnabe-on-a-mac look... panthern OS skin, object dock with all the mac icons.. panther object bar. call me a poser, i'm too poor to get a new machine but in this i was able to take the best parts of both operating systems: xp, and os x, to make an interface that i can work very quickly and efficiently in. the finder and taskbar of a mac, with the navigation shell of XP. plus, it looks good.

i would hope that some larger corporates come by wincustomize sometime and recruit some of these amazing artists to design the next wave of linux, mac, and windows operating systems.

(and how 'bout that new java OS, huh? wonder how that'll work out)

isn't that a Java GUI/windowing enviroment .. running on *nix ?

for me I got a mishmash happening .. PixOS WMP and Winamp skins , MSN WIndowBlinds and Trillian skins , a cool aqarium for desktopX , Noia for Iconpackager and ObjectDock

yeah it runs on a lynx/unix base but from what i hear its a stand alone os, built to resemble windows for ease of making a switch. since its built on a *nix core its compatible with those os's, with the flexability of java.. has Star Office already, not sure about what other apps are made for it tho.
