Game map size?

I should first clarify that I have not played the beta (i do plan on buying the game, of course) but by seeing the pictures available already, I have noticed that the world map looks... small? It was the cloth one, so it may have been due to it being zoomed out, but I remember seeing only one landmass (A Pangean world?) which was small enough to show paths and lakes quite big...

Are the devs planning to make it bigger, or perhaps I misjudged the size? (A good size would be like in Civ, right?)

My apologizes if this sounds idiotic but I do wish to clear any doubts so I can buy the game without worrying.

i havent played the beta either but they said maps could take months to play so my guess is there will be epic maps, and i know that stardock just loves making huge maps that suck up weeks of my life like on GalCiv.

as far as i understand it they are all testing on the same small map just trying to find bugs right now though.

As has been previously stated, the only limiting factor to map size will be your computer's RAM. And since there will be a 64 bit native version, assuming you maxxed out a 64 bit machine with RAM (impossible w/o 2150 technology), you would more or less be able to make 1 tile equal 1 square inch and cover the Earth with it.
