Tutorial?

Will th tutorial be a part of the campagin so to speak, or will it be seperate? Personally I found that the Sins of a Solar Empires tutorial would have benifited from being intergrated with the rest of the game a bit better and I was wondering how it would work in Elemental. :)

I would like a tutorial that would be a story in itself. Something like "how that channeller got that powers" or "The childhood of Curgen".

Same here, would make the most sense IMO.

I was remembering the good old days of planescape torment. And the "tutorial" for learning magic. That is the best tuto I've ever see. It didn't seemed to be a tuto at all.

I love PS:T to death but I just can't seem to remember how the magic tutorial went. Could you explain?

In fact after being out of the sewers (the first time) you could get to the market and to the old woman that would give you som equest to get some paper. Each quest had a meaning : you learned things like patience, or what you see isn't always what is real, etc (i don't remmeber exactly what it was about, just the fact that it was very well done). That's the only time in an RPG where you actually have to create your first parchment to learn how to use it.

And the fact you don't remember it shows that it was really integrated in the game ;)

No tutorial! Make people learn the old-fansioned way. Actually, lets force them to play "Beta-1" before they can see the real game! Bwahahahaha!

Actually I think frogboy said he didn't want a tutorial - instead they are going to use an advisor system which will teach you the game as you play.

Really? Those aren't really anymore help than the manual IMO...

Someone really ought to make a sequel to Planescape Torment. Or a mod. *_*

I had contributed to the Modern Planescape project. I really enjoyed writing for that before I realized that I really wanted to break out, write my own lore selfishly about my own worlds.

I'd love to see a Plansescape mod. It would actually be great source material. And could provide some awesome models for other mods too.

End of vieuxchat's quote

Oh yeah now I remember. I believe her name was Ol' Mebbeth in the trash heap. Those quests were pretty damn epic, where you had to construct your own magic paper, frame and such. Learning lessons about patience, persistence, control and sacrifice (the part where you have to plant a seed in your hand made me very nervous).

But realistically I don't expect Elemental to have anywhere near as good writing as PS:T. Expect a regular "go here, use that command" tutorial.
