ICO, a comeback?

ICO, a comeback?

ive witnessed a steady INCREASE in the number of players online at certian times rather than a decrease since the last patch.

yesterday (sunday April, 5) i played nearly a dozen games 3v3 or larger including 2 4v4 and 4 5v5. YES FOUR 5v5 games 3 of them were played back to back to back. most were skilled and 2 games even involved booting :D

The ICO community is seeming to be making a comeback.

I personaly attribute the growing number of ppl online to the dissapearence ot the descync/disconnect/miniD/ and other forms of crash problems that were ailing ICO for seemingly forever.

this also disproves the theory that the community was dieing due to rudeness/smurfing/or booting as many have suggested (including me)

Kudos to the devs for fixing the issue and hopefully more and more players will venture back online or for the first time:D

Growing?  Maybe, but if it's growing, it's growing after having suffered a large loss of players.  I think it's pretty much dead.  I mean, the player counts aren't enough to really support online multiplayer activity.  I had difficulty finding games even last night (Friday).

I played an awesome game the other morning (wednesday) reminded me how much I love this game. It was a small ffa-BUT it  was a blast. played with snoodie and devious. IT was good to see the familiar faces. A 3v3 got started right after that too... I didn't have time for that but wished I did.

Aqui was aslo on advertising a game "8 PM eastern time" =]. That shows that people still WANT to play this game.

I hope so.  Maybe lots of players will spontaneously return in a month or two.

I would-with hopes of seeing main accounts of former friends. =]

The Hawk says, The Sins economy needs a stimulas package. The deplomacy Stimulas package did not help to increase the investment in the multiplayer sins economy.

It is a known fact, that sins economy is in recession, or a great depression right now.

There was an influx of new people to the Sins community in general(I.E. these forums) when Trinity came out.  If we all devote to ICO at a certain time and post that time in a thread, and get a Moderator to sticky it in the multiplayer section, then the new players will find it and know when to play, and the older players who pop in here once in a while might join in as well.  That is the stimulus.  Trinity.  We just have to baby it.

Sorry bout that.  I had some RL stuff and I hadn't expected it to last that long.  So you won that game after I had to log?  We were well on our way when I left but pulling it through after that is commendable.  Grats quar.

Maybe what Sins needs is a sale--a big sale.  Perhaps a sale of the original Sins for $10 and a sale of Trinity for $25.  Perhaps there is a lot of price elasticity and they would have many sales.  Also, I wonder if it could be bundled with video cards.

Games dont tend to be price elestic, however, this game is getting old, and people dont like buying old games, unless there really well advertised, I say selling this game on steam may help, however, that wont happen.

I think I have seen a light at the end of this tunnel. I had a great game with Quar and Grey yesterday!!! (My internet died because of storms, BUT I had a blast.)

I knew who I was playing against and with and it rocked.

One thought I had just before the game that i think will help bring this game back to life. I shared this with those in that room and I plan to post on it in about 10 minutes.

Check it out.

Diplomacy was just a bad name.  X| Poeple just phsycologically hate it for no reason. Thats why player counts dropped.  I think 80% of people said "Diplomacy, thats like government, useless, oh well time for new game" and didnt even give it a chance.  But I think because it is part of TRINITY now, NEw players will play it online. SO hopefully ICO will grow.

They need to figure out a way they can combine all 3 games. There was 276 people online between vanilla entrenchment and diplomacy

Holy cow.  That's almost the record for the most players I've ever seen online, which was about 280 people back in March or April 2008.  At what time and what day did you see this?

I think the Sins for $4 sale helped give the game a small shot in the arm.  I think I saw 110 people on the Sins/Entrenchment server on Friday night.  (We should all leave the new players alone so that they can play together on regular Sins without us pros stomping them so that they'll keep playing.  I know it's hard to resist the temptation, but let's pretend they are underage girls.)

It was a sunday afternoon and night..and usually it is the same amount of people for saturdays. I think fixing the constant mini dumps and de syncs in the middle of a 3 hour game kind of helped.

Is that Sins + entrenchment + Diplomacy population? or Sins/entrenchment + diplomacy

Cause sins and entrenchment is still combined like before.

DeadRat, were those people all online at the very same time or did you count 276 different names throughout the day?

It's possible, there were close to 180 online Monday night (at once) between all three versions (110+) on Vanilla/Entrenchment and 60+ on Diplomacy.
