Is there a way to change how a race talks to you? I have changed only one or two words in a sentence but can't seem to add to sentences or completely change them without getting "CHARACTER STRING NOT RECOGNIZED" when the race talks to me in the negotiations screen. I have looked for an answer in the galactic library and nodding guides and can't find one.

My steps were:

1. Open the conversations xml with word or notepad to edit

2. LEAVE THE BRACKETTS ALONE when editing the conversations

3 save the document.

Without seeing a sample of what you're trying to do, I can't say for certain what the problem is. There might be errors you didn't mean to make. I would suggest you download a free XML editor, and see if it recognizes any errors.
