What are animated icons for???

I don't understand the purpose -

Hi, I am a new user to ObjectDock. It's a nice functional program, but I cannot figure out the purpose of an animated icon other than to look good. There is one built into ObjectDock to try out (a rotating earth), but I cannot add a program launch path to the properties as the properties do not have a place to put the path (only a place to change the icon). I would have liked to use the animated icon for Internet Explorer, but I don't see a way to do it. Can anyone explain to me - like you would a six-year old what is the purpose?

.... so you Rightclicked on the new Animated Icon then on "configure shortcut ....

now in the same "Animation Image -Set Image" dialog you can set the path but first you have to clean completely the box deleting the already existing path: <mailto:averhoev.2@hccnet.nl?subject=Animated Shortcut>

Unfortunatly and to my dismay this no longer works with OD2 "sux" if I had known I wouldn't have updated

sorry sonicaholic I cannot help as actually I'm "out of the beta"  (I wasn't a previous OD Plus customer)

but I'm quite sure the animated icons are working in OD 2 maybe with a different docklet location

any way I think they will work in the final release ... it must be ! :thumbsup:
