Graphics file icons never change

I notice that a number of people seem to have a similar problem - that some, but not all, of the icons change when a new iconpackage is applied. For me, the most noticeable are the graphic files --- JPG, GIF, TIF, BMP, TGA, PNG. NONE of them EVER changes from its default, no matter how many times I reapply the theme. !!? What gives? The WAV file behaves like this as well. I'm using Windows 7 home (32 bit), and the latest version of Iconpackager 5.

If anyone has a clever workaround solution, I'd be happy to try it out. Thanks.

{Edited in one day later} ...

I'd love to know if there's ANYBODY out there with Windows 7 32bit, who has successfully changed the various image icons using an iconpackage. Are you out there? Reason I state this is because I'm convinced it's a Windows 7 issue, not an Iconpackager issue (of course, one would think that they'd tell us this ... !?). I've Googled this issue and find many people frustrated trying to change icons in Windows 7, and I have yet to see any solution that works. I tried the Regedit thing -- wouldn't let me change the pertinent values. So - has anyone had luck changing the image icons using Win7?

I have Windows7 32 bit, and I see the same thing you do....with different icons.  I can apply a package and some will not apply, then apply the same package again, and it will be a different icons that do not apply. That sounds like an Iconpackager issue to me.

At this point, the only thing you can do is change those icons one at a time in iconpackager to what they are supposed to be, and apply it. You will have to repeat the process for every Iconpack you apply.

For the graphics files download FileTypesMan from Nirsoft.

I was able to easily exchange *.bmp*.png.......all the graphics files.

As for the Audio Files, it doesnt work for me...

Actually while searching for the answer I stumbled across this post...

Any Ideas?

EDIT: OK found the solution. You'll have to tweak the registry.

I am on XP SP3, for me the grapics icons, bitmap, jpeg etc are displayed as one of the Windows default, I believe that this is because all of those file types are associated with Paint Shop Pro X2, which is something most if not all icon sets have no icon for thus use default MS.
