Looking some feed back

im very interested in ppls feed back on how i play,

http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod/replays.php?game=51&tab=upcoming&show=details&id=112678

this is a replay from earlier today didn't get the full match but by the end it's clear who is winnning (the host done that quit thing as they all like to do ¬_¬) im looking to learn and the only medium i have atm is this forum, i know im not completly crap but i felt looking over it myself afterwards that i could have done better, also if your wondering why i didn't get BotF ( :P ) it's because this is actually a replay from my first ever match online and therefore didn't have the points needed to buy it also i don't normally pick up hammer slam so early but i felt i'd mix it up by graping rank 1 early because that UB was doing my head in and i wanted to smack him :P

thanks i'll check it out now ^^

edit* nice match man i like the favour item choice aswell i might have to steal it :P, thought your mid to late game was very impressive tho i would have pushed for that portal earlier and would have ported for gaints (even tho you didn't need too) tho i think thats just cos i get kinda aggressive in 2 situations

A ) i can smell the victory

B ) where starting to fall behind on war rank and i feel it's time something was done about it, tho this only happens if i have a weaker player than me on my team, my usual go to aggressive tactic is to push hard on one of the portals, cap lock and hope i wasn't to premature, by that i mean at the very least almost have catas

P.S pfft look at me trying to talk as if im not a noob xD

I don't like pushing portals early because then you lose the massive xp/gold from the creeps and all you get is some measily amount of warscore.  Unless you are Oak and you can chain lock a portal from level7.

Alternatively you can push right into the cit through the portal but I like to get higher level as it's more fun.

I didn't port for giants because I was a noob. :)

End of quote

Portals have gold mines AND give your entire team crazy experience. Always cap a portal instead of killing a creep wave. Always.

on cataract you lose out on a shit load of exp so no it is not a good idea to cap the portal flags early imo because you will get outlevelled fast. take + lock gold only. cap portals after catapults are in the field and you are pushing for citadel.

Heya Shake, good to see you around.

Actually, you don't lose out on xp if it's not a neutral portal. Capping base portals will give each player the experience equivalent to a creep wave when the creeps spawn, so it's actually 3x experience by capping it. Plus there is a gold mine. Always cap it if you have the chance.

edit: I removed all the stupid things I said so it doesn't confuse people.  Read the thread linked below.

hmm for some reason the post I made here earlier didn't make it.

But anyway, if you have an enemy portal starting with the second wave and each successive wave your entire TEAM will gain FULL creepwave xp AND gold as if you had farmed it.

Creep waves spawn every 31 seconds so, let's say 2 full locks' worth and 2 tp scrolls of investment to keep the portal flag on your team. Obviously no one died getting the portal nor keeping it 'cause that's just stupid ;)

The enemy team will have one guy farming the portal, the other guy farming the mana side creep wave, and then their third farming the hp side so each person on their team is getting full gold and xp from one creepwave. My team will have one guy not farming at all (he's keeping the portal flag), and 2 guys on the hp flag, sharing the creep wave. So one guy is getting no farming xp or gold, and the other two are splitting it.

But, my entire TEAM got 2 full creepwaves of xp because I held the portal flag for 3 creepwaves. This means that the hp guys got 4.5 creepwaves each (3*.5 + 2*1), and the mana guy got 2*1 = 2 creepwaves so my team managed to get 11 creepwaves worth of expierence and gold. Everyone on the enemy team got 3*1 creepwaves so a total of 9 creepwaves. The two guys /sharing a lane/ will outlevel their /entire team/ by 50%. Plus, holding a gold mine denies them additional gold and grants you extra war score.

I don't blame you for makin the choices you do because you weren't aware of that mechanic. But if you can hold a portal flag for 2 full creepwaves, you will certainly benefit. You will /not/ benefit by holding it only 1 full creepwave because your team doesn't get the XP bonus until the second creepwave. So that would be a stupid thing to do.

If you can safely snag and lock a portal so you get two creepwaves out of it without dying... it is worth it.

I think you're misunderstanding me. Capping an enemy base portal will give your entire team the XP equivalent to a creep wave every single time a creep wave spawns. There is a really simple way to test this. Go on cataract and capture an enemy portal. Wait there. Right before your creeps spawn, you should notice your XP going up even though you're not near any dying creeps. This is because your entire team is given XP every single time your creeps spawn at an enemy portal. Test it out in single player for yourself.

Here is what the scenario actually is for capping the portal flag:

  • 110 xp from capping
  • my team gets 1200g each or 3600g total.
  • My team is guarunteed 17460 xp from keeping portal capped.
  • Other team loses 3600g total.
  • Other team potentiall gets 1920g from creeps
  • Other team potentially gets 5820 xp from creeps

As you can see, it's now no contest between capping the portal and not capping the portal. You'll receive 3x the experience and much more gold.

Re: portal capping - It was a great day when we figured that out.  See link.

Holding Enemy Portal Gives HUGE XP and Gold

Sorry for the threadjack, Drasonic, but if you ever want feedback on play with a DG other than Rook, Sedna, or QOT I'll be happy to comment ;)

lol i don't mind it''s been informative, at the end of the day i wasn't aware of the overall gain from capping an enemy portal i just know it's good thing when your preparing for catas, you kno cap, lock, port to cit buy catas then port back and start pushing their cit, but thanks to the discussion in this thread i've learned something new lol

Edit* would still appreciate something back on my replay from an experienced tower rook player, im not as confident in my TB play as i only used him to have fun against my m8's before i really started playing but i'll see if in can get a good match and post the reply on that at some

P.S would like to see any replys you guys have aswell (of any DG)i find it's the best way to learn the basics of how you should be going about a character, im quite interested in pro general plays that aren't Oak as my first impression was that i would've liked to be erebus but after readin that he's in the "trinity" gods i was put off same with UB and Oak really but i could be tempted by erebus again :P

Oak isn't quite the hotshot everyone thinks he is. The biggest thing he has going for him is the portal-ninja element of Cataract which makes him pretty much awesome. In 1v1 combat he isn't that great unless he has spirits or giants are out and he has Surge of Faith spammage (and other demigods are much better at AoE than Oak). If he has spirits he is weaker in 3v3 clusterfucks (which is when Shield + Pent + Surge Oak is really nice to have), so it's a tradeoff either way. He's very strong end-game though, esp with Surged Giants.

Same thing with Erebus, though he starts off (much) stronger than Oak. The thing with Erebus is not that he is "best" at any one thing. It's that he has no weaknesses and is 2nd or 3rd or 4th best in everything (except AoE I guess). If you want to beat Erebus you just have to figure out what you need to do and what you do better than him and then force him in that situation. Now, you won't kill the fucker, but at least you'll do what you need to do.

UB is another matter entirely... UB with monk-support is ... yeah. If the enemy has a UB you really need a UB on your team. That's just what the game comes down to, sadly. A slightly nerfed UB (maybe just a couple hundred armor reduction + make his movement speed to 6) and a slightly buffed DA with a few slight changes to some of the items would go a long way to making every demigod competitive to a certain level, given certain situations (eg, Reg is quite competive in 4v4 games as he is, but he'll almost always been a weaklink in smaller games). Anyway I have downloaded your replay and I'll work on giving you some feedback though I'm no tower rook pro. I've played with and against many of the best tower rooks in the game though, so I know how he works ;)

No worries man i can wait :P

also im kinda trying to entice some replay posting from others at this point checking on gamereplays theres like 2 videos atm that are watchable, something to do with the lastest patch, videos not being able to be watched unless they are made in the same patch think i read that somewhere .. anyway yea any feed back is positive i can take the "it was stupid to do that" or "dear god you should've done this then and it was GG"'s

edit* too many emotes and spelling

Interesting, I never saw that post as I was away for a month in September without a comp and never checked old posts.  To think, all this time I was being a noob... I blame everyone else for never telling me this.

It's also pretty retarded as it wildly inflates the total available xp/gold in a game.  If both teams ninjad each others ports and somehow could still farm... I don't want to think about that.
