Starbase Upgrade Suggestions and Questions

I just got Entrenchment and would like to hear opinions on which SB upgrades/levels are the most useful for each race. I play single player. If your recommendation varies with SP vs MP please specify.

The Vasari have several upgrades which sound very nice. In fact, too many for the 8 upgrade slots. How do you think the repair and frontal shield upgrades compare in importance to the defensive upgrades?

I believe the third Vasari SB weapon upgrade is a 20% boost to weapons damage. I assume it is just a boost to the SB weapons and not a boost to their strike craft damage?

I think the Debris vortex (repair) ability is better than frontal shields, it makes the Vasari starbase very hard (despite not lasting long enough in my opinion) to kill if supported by a fleet (as I believe your destroyed ships give it HP as well). The general defense upgrades are often better though, as these are always in effect and thus much more versatile.

Yes, the damage bonus only applies to the starbase's actual weapons, but this can be substancial with the phase missiles.

The first two damage and all the health upgrades are extremely useful for every faction.  Auxiliary Government, Enforced Loyalty, and Enduring Devotion are also critical for keeping control of the planet.  Beyond that, Vasari debris vortex and frontal deflectors are highly useful, Advent meteor control is amazing, and the TEC's security override protocol can torch entire fleets instantly.

The vasari frontal deflector shield is useful, but note that its intention is to aid the starbase in assaulting an enemy starbase.  I guess it could also be used defensively if you positioned it so that it's "back was against the wall," so to speak.
