ObjectDock Questions

Hi

I just started using ObjectDock and have a couple of questions.

  1. I use a lot of Steam games and ran into the problem where when you drag the shortcut to a dock it no longer has the correct icon. I saw a soution in the forum about deselecting the option to point to the object instead of the shortcut. That fixed the icon problem, but created a whole new set of problems I wasn't expecting. Since my whole reason to use this was to clear my desktop of icons, I  did that. Dragged them onto a new dock - and deleted all the desktop shortcuts. Now all my links in the docks are broken. Is there a better solution to that problem that shows up with applications like steam in the works?
  2. Sometimes applications on the dock require a double click to start them rather than single click like most. They seem to have a triangle under them. Any idea what could be causing them to be like that? I currently have the problem with the Internet and Mail docklets. Internet (Firefox) works fine. Mail (Thunderbird) requires a double click.

Thanks for any info/help,

Don

for 1)

some times when you move an Icon to the desktop then to ObjectDock and then delete the desktop Icon it brakes

this is what I do

right click on the OD Icon then Click on DOCK ENTRY PROPERTIES

now in this box you should see  LINK....   now go to C:\ click it  then on the left side Click on ORGANIZE then FOLDERS AND SEARCH OPTIONS

Then click on VIEW Then Click on SHOW HIDDEN FILES, FOLDERS AND DRIVERS then UN-CHECK Hide protected Operating System Files

Back to C:\.... Go to  C:\Users\USERNAME\Start Menu\Programs  BUT it might be in one of these locations  C:\All Users\Start Menu\Programs  OR C:\Default User\Start Menu\Programs   then in the Address Bar copy that info to OD in the LINK NOTE you have to also add the name of the game or app  so it would be best to right click it then copy and past to the end EXAMPLE

C:\Users\DisturbedComputer\Start Menu\Programs\Games    <<<<  this is just the game folder Now I have to add the Name of the Game

C:\Users\DisturbedComputer\Start Menu\Programs\Games\Fallout 2

If SCREEN SHOTS are needed I will do.....

FOR 2)  the triangle under them mean it is running NOW you can turn that off by going to ObjectDock  properties then click on

EFFECTS then un-check OTHER APPEARANCE SETTINGS  as for the double click to start them I think it's just you not clicking on it or too fast cause it does this to me every now and then ....

Hope this helps

DisturbedComputer,

Thanks for the response. Fortunately, I did have a lot of the shortcuts in a games folder of my own, so I was able to remove all the existing ones from the dock and drag these back on. The post was really to explain the scenario I encountered and the problem, and in hopes of discovering there was a newer solution to the Steam problem for the future.

As for the second problem, I don't mind the triangle underneath, just was hoping for a way to fix single click. It's weird that Firefox, via the internet docklet, only needs to be single clicked, whether its running or not. Thunderbird, on the other hand, requires a double click.

Again, thanks for the response,

Don
