Upgrade to ObjectDock Plus problem

I've been trying the free version for a couple of days now and decided to purchase the current Plus version.

I received a download link and downloaded the file. I ran the install, it appears to have completed. So I go into the Stardock\ObjectDock folder in the start menu and start the program, but it appears to still be the free version. How do I get the Plus verison to run?

It never asked for a serial number or anything. Any ideas? I really don't want to wait for 48 hours to be able to run the program.

Thanks,

Don

Did you uninstall the free version before installing plus?

If you didn't uninstall the free version before installing the Plus version, you can follow this procedure to try to fix the problem. You'll need to backup your old settings, uninstall both, and reinstall ObjectDock Plus fresh.

-Unload/quit ObjectDock so that it is not running, and then go to Start > Run... (Start > Start Menu Search in Vista) and then copy this into the command line:

for XP:     %userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock
for Vista:  %userprofile%\AppData\local\stardock\

-It will open a file folder.  The 'ObjectDock' folder contains your settings for your docks.  Rename the folder 'ObjectDock Backup'.
-Uninstall both ObjectDock and ObjectDock Plus from your computer, and reboot.
-Install ObjectDock Plus
-Go back to the folder from above, delete the 'ObjectDock Plus' folder, and rename the 'ObjectDock Backup' folder to 'ObjectDock Plus'

This should restore your old settings, and get your ObjectDock Plus working properly.

Dewey,

Thanks for the reply. The information on the locations of user data will come in handy.

After posting, I tried logging on Impulse. After updating itself, it showed ObjectDock Plus as a registered product, and indicated there was an update. I downloaded the update, after which it told me to reboot. After rebooting, it came up with the correct plus version of ObjectDock, but without any of my settings. Your post pointed me to where they are. There is both an ObjectDock and ObjectDock Plus folder in ...\local\stardock.

Thanks again,

Don
