The Vasari Appreciation Thread

I mostly play Vasari - even if that's only been about 5 games.

But, yeah - how awesome are they??

- Starbases are incredibly versatile, can be used offensively, can move, and probably have the maximum attainable hitpoints for just about anything in the game. (I have one here: about 21K Hull, 9K Shield, so far).

- Apparently they have the best fleet DPS, speaks for itself.

- Why bother using defences when you can build Phase Stabilisers?

- Why bother building ships when you can build Phase Stabilisers?

- Why bother building starbases when you can build Phase Stabilisers?

Actually, Advent has that distinction.  If you complete the phase missile upgrade line, that's another matter entirely, hence why Vasari is most feared late game.

Defenses can be useful, but if a big fleet slams into them, they're just going to get torched.  Fleet is the only counter to fleet, period.  Defenses exist to support fleet, they are not stand-alone.

Obviously because you need ships to actually travel through the phase stabilizers to defend.

Starbases don't count to command limits, and are vastly superior to your usual turrets and hangers.  When you have a repair bay around, they can ward off some pretty substantial enemy assault forces.

Assailants+PM Upgrades+Ruiners+Subs+Overseers+Missile Pact+FS Pact=BOOOOM!!!!!

And yes, I have to say that as far as cool factors, go, the Kortul has to win

I use them mainly because they put the crystal and metal upgrade into one, making it easier to upgrade the extract rates. And then there's that Wreckage Salvage (forget what's its called exactly), love that one...Oh, and uh...MOVING STARBASE!!! XD

I agree wiht the author. And they are so nice looking! I would like to have a Vasari wife, instead of my current one)

I'm scared to even know what female Vasari looks like. XD

In all likelihood you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between males and females (assuming Vasari reproduction actually works like that in the first place).  The traits normally associated with human masculinity and femininity don't apply to other species.  Without actually examining the naughty bits, an untrained human can't even tell the gender of other primates, and forget about more distant species like reptiles or amphibians.

I suspect the opposite would likely be true as well, a Vasari would be unable to tell the difference between a human male and female for the same reasons.

Also, Vasari starbase kinda pisses me off because their starbase IS their anti-structure/starbase ship. That's building another starbase every time you reach a developed enemy system with its own starbase, and that's damn expensive. Not to mention in order to make the starbase viable for combat against another starbase (+possible defending fleet) you NEED to research its first weapon upgrade to get the anti-structure weapon, and then you need MORE upgrades to ensure the starbase survives past initial system capture.

They are trying to lock down this entire star system and gather resources to fuel their exodus.  It makes sense that they'd be dropping SBs everywhere they can, to buy back the time they've lost by staying here to fight so long while their enemy get's ever closer.

Question:  Anyone ever wonder if the whole vasari enemy was just a massively out of control practical joke, and there is no enemy?  Some high ranking admiral said "Hey, let's screw with these guys and make them think the empire has fallen.  THat'll be good for a laugh...Woops...they just took our fleet and ran away...someone go tell them..."

phase stabilizers only opens up at t 5, at early games u need defense to survive some rush or if u became the first pirate raid target.

Defenses can be useful, but if a big fleet slams into them, they're just going to get torched. Fleet is the only counter to fleet, period. Defenses exist to support fleet, they are not stand-alone.

if there's anything that can buy some time while ur fleet is on the move its the defence

what kind of bad joke is this?with what u bombard ur enemies planets and win the game?

As a regular TEC player, I'd say that your military and defence tech tiers deserve some appreciation:

Tier 2 PJIs (tier 5! for TEC)

Tier 2 Starbase, and it doesn't even need a special cruiser to build.

Seconded, if only because of its voiceovers.

The scourge of the Vasari -  the destroyer of worlds, the unknown deathbringer, the mysterious and long-fanged wolf that lopes in the void, has been identified.

It is...

The Diplomacy Pirates.

I gotta say..  While that was funny... The Diplo Pirates aren't that hard to kill.  They can easily be defeated if you know what you are doing.  My first game, I figured I'd turn them on, and soon discovered how powerful they were.  My response?  Increase military might and start paying them to go elsewhere.  Pirates really are stupid when you think about it.  More credits>less credits.  That's all they really care about, so if you think they are slaughtering you, pay them off so they go kill someone else.  And even if they do come after you, who cares?  They aren't that bad (though in their original form, the Diplo Pirates were excessive due to their ability to create far larger fleets than you with far better ships...) but did get OP due to an issue with their power/research caps.
