Sins Trinity- play Trinity, Sins, Entrenchment, or Diplomacy?

So I broke down and bought Trinity outright. But when you start the game, it asks if you want to play Trinity, Sins, Entrenchment, or Diplomacy.

What exactly is the difference between these?

Sins is the original game.
Entrenchment is the first expansion pack, adding on to the original game.
Diplomacy is the second expansion pack, adding on to Entrenchment.

I don't know what would be the difference between "Trinity" and "Diplomacy".  Both should be the complete game.

Initially, there was a "Trinity Bundle" available, back when it was a pre-order, but now if you buy Trinity, it is one game, with 3 'chapters'.  They have the exact same contect, and are compatible with each other mod-wise and multiplayer-wise, just a little different registration-wise and download-wise.

As a brand new player, you might want to consider starting with normal Sins first to reduce the complexity and to allow you to focus on the core game.  Once you feel comfortable with it, start playing Entrenchment.  Then move on to Diplomacy.  I think most of the online players are still playing Entrenchment.

I never understand why add-on's are not just added to the main game rather than separate, as is done in Trinity. The way Stardock have done it requires three plays of differing quality. How many buying Trinity will play the bare bone Sins? Few I think.

Perhaps because having expansion packs (which cost money) give the developers an economic incentive?

And perhaps because some who aren't willing to pirate would rather test out vanilla Sins first to see if they like it before paying $10 more for the expansion?

Also, good job bumping a thread more than a year old.

My Friends Play Vanilla (they bought t when it came out) so if I want to play with them I need to play the core game but I also like playing Dip. SP. So I think it was a great idea.

Tell your friends that if they get Diplomacy they'll save $10 on the Rebellion download.

Yea well with no hope of Rebellion having a release date any time soon I am not going to worry about telling them to buy Ent and Dip for $20 just to save $10 on game that might not be relavent when it gets released.

I only just got the trinity pack and have started on the vanilla game first - so glad I did - steep learning curve on this game, just (and I mean just) starting to get my head around the different aspects after a week.

The complexity is addictive and I can see myself playing for sometime to come although I think I would get owned by even the worst player online.
