Deskscapes 3 and Windows XP SP3 issues.

Hello, I recently installed Objectdesktop on windows Vista and it's working fine. However it doesn't work on my windows XP computer. Doesn't matter which dreamscene I'm using, it always gives me problems. These problems are:

I don't see the icons when I'm dragging them on the desktop but when I drop them they do get moved.

I can't rename any files or folders on my desktop. When I right click -> rename , the current name disappears and I can't do anything.  Clicking the Enter key doesn't help either.

On some dreamscenes the multiple selection square doesn't appear but it does on some others.

Some additional notes:

The system is using Windows XP SP3 with all and only the official updates from windows update.

I have totally removed the fences application since I read it creates problems.

I'm not using any third party codecs, only windows codecs.

All dreamscenes are working fine as backgrounds.

I'm not running any other apps apart from the Objectdesktop's ones.

I'm using ESET Smart Security 4 Suite on both computers. As mentioned it works perfectly on Vista so I don't think this is the problem.

My system specs are these:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+

2GB RAM

8600GTS 512MB (with the latest drivers from nVidia)

The Operating System is 32 bits.

Any idea anyone? This is really frustrating :(

You might want to try temporarily disabling your security software to see if it is blocking Deskscapes.  If so, you may need to create a rule or exeption so Deskscapes can run.  If that doesn't solve the problem, you should contact Stardock support.  They are very helpful.

Similar specs here: AMD X2 6400, 3 1/2 G Ram 7300 nvidia, XP SP3 with the invisible icons and a bit more. Unable to drag  saved items from the desktop at all and any icon saved or moved to the desktop did not appear until the desktop was clicked. All Dreamscenes worked fine. running Avira Pro, fine on Vista but not W7, using XVID 1.2.2 also.

End of Bartmole's quote

Do you mean fine on Vista but not XP rather than not W7?

I have XP as well and the bottom line is that Deskscapes runs poorly on XP. I've found maybe 3 or 4 dreams that kind of run...the rest don't work at all. I've been told it's a codec problem but have yet to be pointed to an actual working codec that's been tested on XP and been found to work. It was a nice idea and would have been nice to see but such is life. :-"

No, Deskscapes 3 ran perfect in Vista, had the above issue and others on Xp and is having an issue with the Earth desktop in the demo that may be caused by my video card in W7. I use CCleaner, SpyWareBlaster, SuperAntiSpyware and only one AV.
