Windows 7 + Deskscapes 3

I bought Deskscapes for Windows 7 in Semptember 2009.

Since the earlier versions do not work, i want to install Deskscape 3. It is impossible to install Deskscapes 3. The only option i have is Deskscape 2.95 which i can't download because it gives me an Error. 

How do i install Deskscapes 3 ? I was billed on 26-09-2009 for Deskscapes and should be able to install Deskscapes 3.

I'm running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and DeskScapes 3 works fine with it. 

If you have all ready purchased it, register and download it using Impulse.

It won't accept my key ... So i can't register Deskscapes 3.

Did you get an email after you purchased it and are you using that information in that email to regiester?

If so and it won't work I would suggest emailing either support@stardock.com or sales@stardock.com

I just did ... Thank you ...

 

The key only works for Deskscapes 2. I can't use the same key for Deskscapes 3.

Are you sure there isn't a Deskscapes 3 product being listed in Impulse as well as Deskscapes?

Contacted support and they send me a different key. I now have Deskscapes 3 as an option. It says it is installed but ofcourse it does not work.

Funny thing is that the Trial Deskscapes 3 version works perfectly. I uninstalled the trial and reinstalled Deskscapes 3 from Impulse. Still refuses to work .

I'm trying to get this to work since September. I even reinstalled Windows 7.

You have to have another problem going on. 

When you did your uninstalls and reinstalls did you run a clean up program like CCleaner?  Have you run a registry clean up?

Confirm if you would that the trial version worked okay on this computer as currrently set up?

The trial worked ok ... I reinstalled the trial and again it works perfectly.

Difference? The installer !!

I have one last suggestion, uninstall DeskScapes 3, do a clean up, trun off you A/V and other security. reboot and try another reinstall.  It might help as others folks from time to time do have problems.  Can't answer why the trial works and the full version won't.

I already did.

Removed everything. Manually remove all stardock registry keys i could find.
Rebooted

Installed the trial --> Works!!

Installed Impulse
Installed Deskscapes --> Engine does not appear to be running
Installed Deskscapes trial over the activated version --> Still no luck

Impulse is getting really annoying since it downloads Deskscapes everytime again.

I think i will just crack the trial instead.

Ok so it's prefered making threaths instead of making suggestion or trying to help a customer.

Great, now i'm really glad i bought software from stardock  ^_^   If you can't see that this makes stardock a joke then i'm glad i only wasted 15 euro's on Deskscapes.

I am sorry but we can't have discussion of cracking software for any reason on our forums.

Regarding your issue, it sounds like there is some sort of missing runtime file OR something else on your machine is blocking the installation of Deskscapes when installed via Impulse.

If you have dependency walker you could run it on deskscape.dll and deskscapes.dll (in the Deskscapes dir) and see if it reports any missing files.

My best guess would be some sort of security software you have installed thats blocking Deskscapes.dll from loading up into memory.

Great :) Did not expect an answer after that one ... I ofcourse did not plan to place links to crack sites or try to suggest someone should crack Deskscapes.

I verified the installation with Impulse. It says "DeksScapes 3 is installed correctly". I tried an Dependacy walker and it displays an error for IEShims.dll . I traced it to Internet Explorer and included %programfiles%\Internet Explorer to the %path% variable.

The error is gone. However Deskscapes still refuses to run.

(BTW i installed the beta, 3.0 has the same problem)

To make matters worse, i have a second installation of Windows 7 on another disk. Clean installation (with ofcourse the same hardware) and it still won't run :S

What exactly is "Deskscapes engine". When and how does it start ?

Can You Open the Deskcapes Console where you select the dreams from?

 

what is the max resolution of your monitor?

 

Another note:  I had to give DeskscapesConfig.exe outbound access through my firewall to get it to work on Windows 7 64bit with my security software

I only have the standard Windows 7 firewall enabled. I use Security Essentials as AV.

Max Resolution = 1280x1024

Yes i can open the Deskscapes Console.

Did you ever get this resolved I have a deskscapes key as well, Impulse sees it but wont install it.  but if I run the demo, it installs fine.

Try closing Impulse and running the following file:

http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_registrations.reg

Make sure to follow the link in Internet Explorer, as other web browsers will not handle the file type correctly.  Once you follow the link, save the file and double click it to apply it.  Then relaunch Impulse.  You will need to re-login with your username/e-mail (either will work) and password.
