Downloading docklets

Ok, so I just started using OD a week ago...but for some reason I have only found a couple of docklets that actually work.

And sadly, most have not been updated for a very long time...which is no biggie...if they actually work.

Mostly, System tools, like CPU, memory, drive space, bandwidth and the like.  The only one that i came across that actually worked was the CPU one.  All the others that i unzipped into the docklet directory dont even show up as a "add" option in OD, or they simply just display a big "?" where it would be in the dock.

Most of which i downloaded from wincustomize and dockex.

Any ideas......am i missing something???

I mean the damn OD app dont even have a link that points to a site to download docklets from....WTF is that.

Sheeesh, sorry.  Just horrible implmentation of everything....other than the bare bones dock itself that is.

OD 1.9 536 free

XP Pro sp3

Thanks for looking.

I am having the same issue I think... That is when I down load a zip file of images and ini's I dont know where to put them. A geat feature would be to have them auto poulate or load into the appropriate folder or app like wondow blinds does. Stardock is a great company right near the place i call home so listen you guys. ... you do so much with these apps that is right, how about making this one a bit more user friendly and if you cant do that give me a quick link to some instructions.

Your main place to file/extract will be in Programs/Stardock/ObjectDock, then the docks get extracted to a folder called Backgrounds, and your dock icons get extracted to the Themes folder. Then you can go further and extract the separators, docklets, etc to the folder bearing that name.

If you have a zip file that contains folders, etc., and NOT a .dockzip, you can create a dockzip by clicking on Configure ObjectDock and clicking on Themes (in OD Plus). You will see Packing Images For Sharing. Click on Package Files, and you will get a dialog box that is reasonably easy to figure out. When you're done, click on Create Package, and a .dockzip will bw created that you will find on your desktop. Double click on the .dockzip and it will install things in the right places.

The easiest thing to do is have a folder in your "My Documents" to use for all your OD stuff...backgrounds/docklets/png/icons. Unzip them there then just send "all" your dock backgrounds/tiles to the backgrounds folder in OD. For any png/icon images you want to use just create a folder for them and give them a theme name and send them to the main OD folder. Docklets to your docklets folder. Once you do this you will get in the habit and will take seconds to do it.

Then once you install whatever you download folder in "My Documents" you can just delete it or send it to an external hard drive to save and keep things clean and neat. By creating a dockzip you will end up with extra folders in "My Documents" that you don't really need. Unfortunately though there are "a few" who use this dockzip method so you may end up with them anyway.
