Why Play Patheon?

I play almost entirely custom games. I have played a few Patheon games but find it a bad option. The wait, usually unbalanced teams, and the different game modes (Fortress, Slaughter), which I guess is a bonus to some, but I find way to easy, all make the Patheon unappealing to me.

So, my question is, Why do people actually play Patheon over custom games? Is there something I missing?

It's one of life's great mysteries, Kare. Why should people play Pantheon, especially this epoch? :P

Because nothing is more fun than beating 2x Ereb with Reg + TB.

  • Cataract isn't that great of a map
  • the lobby system is terrible
  • beating genreals with assassins is funny (as previously mentioned)
  • the other game types are a much needed bit of variety, excludign fortress mode on some maps

Diversity, it's nice not playing the same old 3vs3 cataract with 2 identical teams of Erebus Ub and Oak.  It also used to be a quick option to get a game going with no hastle.

I´m a huge fan of Pantheon. It´s a bit like roulette if you get teammates who play a good god or if you got feeder for the enemy, which can be frustrating too. It´s more challenging than premade games, where you exactly know whom you fight and what you can expect of the match. It´s a bit more thrilling, especially now with 1on1 being enabled.

I only disagree with this epoch, playing assassins vs generals, since generals are so hard to beat if equal skilled players clash together.

The number of Pantheon games has significantly decreased though lately and only the Dark Side is stacked. I hope this Epoch is over soon and I hope Stardock will make the changes that we proposed in the next Epoch (e.g. removing the separation completely and simply adding the favor points of the Demigod to the correct side).
