Sedna Silence Mutes Speakers

Hello,

A few months ago a weird glitch started popping up.  Whenever Sedna casts silence (it doesn't matter whether I'm playing her or if she's just in the game), it makes my speakers pop and it mutes my sound for the duration of the spell.  At first I thought it was an effect, but then I realized that it couldn't be.  It was particularly annoying if I was talking with teammates over Skype because it mutes all sound coming from my speakers--even those from other programs.

I fixed the problem by reinstalling demigod, and everything was fine up until yesterday when it started happening again for no reason.  I didn't change any settings, I'm not running any background programs, I didn't update any sound drivers.  It just started happening.  I don't really want to reinstall the game again if the glitch will inevitably come back.  Is there a fix for this?  Can I just delete the silence sound effect somehow?

Thanks.

Irony is the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite.

As the word silence generally denotes a blockage of sound, it is quite the opposite of ironic.

Actually it is irony, well it is situational irony. Silence while it is by a definition is "the absence of sound"; in game that is not the desired affect. In game definition "Silence: Enemies near Sedna are barred from using magical spells for a short duration"

Situational Irony: when an incongruity exists between what is expected to happen and what actually happens.

What is expected to happen is that demigods can't use spells or abilities, but what does happen is he loses sound all together. So it is situational irony, but people don't bother to be specific with the type of irony and just say... oh the irony.

Modern! This very irony including with Tragic, and vebal irony were even used in shakespeares time; so exactly how is it modern? Irony is defined as situational, verbal, and tragic/dramatic irony. You can't just not accept this or are you are just rejecting a large of of liteture itself.

Classical Irony: acts as an instance which assures the coextensiveness of being and of the indivual with in the world representation.

By that definition, at least 80% of ironic situations would not be irony.

. . . you only believe in a certain specific type of irony. You go through the effort of correcting people who don't match your sense of irony. When people suggest alternative ironies, you say you don't believe them.

I never thought that rhetoric could become what is essentially religion ot someone. I mean, man you got the whole thing.

Dear imaginary figure no! My grammar is horrible!

I actually suspect this to be an intentional effect that got cut out later on but due to some slacky code is still in some fitelity setting. I had the same thing a couple of times too.

Sorry I didn't check back and respond sooner.  I've tried every setting in the game and it still does it.  I even tried reinstalling and it didn't fix it this time.  I've just learned to deal with it for now.

I appreciate the suggestions, though.

Modern definition of irony - Irony is a situation, literary technique, or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity, discordance, or unintended connection with truth, that goes strikingly beyond the most simple and evident meaning of words or actions.

Classical (real) irony - the OPPOSITE of what is expected happens, not just something different

Sedna uses silence, it would be ironic if everything got louder

Nowadays, silence doing anything other than what you would expect is considered ironic, which is just plain stupid. It's a dumbing down of wordplay, and Benjamin Franklin would frown upon your shenanigans.

Modern means 1400s onward in this case. Stop acting like you know stuff you do not. You're being ironic.

I'm no English professor, but to chime in on the irony discussion, I think the irony could be more with the programming and not with the result we're seeing.  I can't say for sure since the game mutes my speakers, but I'm assuming that even the Silence spell is supposed to produce a sound effect.  However, it is preventing sound from being made.

Thus, the opposite of what is intended to happen is happening, so there is the contradiction.  Irony is often defined as contrary and coincidental at the same time.  If any other spell was causing this effect, it wouldn't be coincidental.

I had this bug pretty much from the beginning, but it went away when I got the other sound bug (1.2, when sounds were just random and didn't match anything). That bug went away when I installed the most recent update, and I haven't had the silence problem since then.
