Tabbed dock entry names don't show

I have two docks: a "normal" dock at the top of the screen and a tabbed dock on the left-hand side; both are set to auto-hide. When the normal dock opens in front of an app, both the dock contents and the entry names show on top of the app window: when the tabbed dock opens in front of an app, the dock contents show on top of the app window, but the entry names are hidden behind the app window. Is there any way I can get the entry names to show on top?

Roger... try pm'ng Mirsguy or WebGizmos (knows everything about docks)... they skin OD and are very helpful!

I believe the name location is not cutomizable and will almost always come out above or below....not beside it. One fix that I have used in the past to to make each tabbed dock on the side a single tab. You can have multiple single tab docks and line them up side by side.....but then you'll see the name.

On my side-tabbed dock, the names come out on the side. :)

Roger, for starters, make sure that, under the "Size & Appearance" tab that you have Entry Names set to "Show on Mouseover."

Then, Under positioning, try setting the dock as a drawer, set your mouseover activation speed. Make sure "Tabs always on top" is unchecked, and choose the "Don't show in tray or taskbar" box.

Then report back. ;)

Thanks guys. As Mirsguy says, the names are in the right place (i.e. to the side of the dock). All of the settings suggested by Mirsguy were already in place, so I don't know what to try next.

Just out of interest, I tried moving the tabbes dock to the top of the screen (after moving the untabbed dock that was already there) - still got the same problem (names were hidden behind the maximized app).

Another niggle I've noticed: untabbed docks re-hide themselves as soon as the mouse moves off them (which is what I want), but with tabbed docks I have to click away from the dock to make it hide. Is this designed behaviour?

Roger I have pretty much the same setup you have Main Dock but, my tabbed dock on the right side all info shows on top of maximized apps.

What version of windows are you using?

What Version of Object Dock?

Er...I don't know how, but the tabbed dock names now seem to display correctly (i.e. on top of underlying maxed apps). The only thing I've done (half an hour ago) is download a copy of nspr4.dll & place it in the Wndows\System folder (Google Chrome started complaining a few days ago that it couldn't find the DLL when loading, although it still seems to work OK). This is probably a complete red herring, but I can't think of anything else.

Oh dear...the problem is back. Entry names are now hidden beneath other windows again!

This just happened to me.

Here's what happened:

I had to reinstall my OS, and also OD+ (obviously). I had changed a bunch of settings. Then I noticed this problem.

One of the settings I had changed was the "Memory / Speed Optimization" under "Performance Options." When you change this setting, it requires a restart of OD to take full effect. I didn't restart.

Once I restarted OD, all was well.

Roger, you may want to try to restart OD just to see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did change this setting (to use memory), but re-starting didn't make any difference. The situation now seems to be that sometimes the names display on top of other windows, sometimes not. I think I'll just live with it!
