Object Desktop Activation. No Response from Support.

To any support personnel on these forums,

I have a case sitting open with the support since December 17th, 2009. No one seem to have looked at it. It's been way past the promised "Two Business Days" time frame.

Can someone please take a look at it.

Ticket ID# GFQ-398437

Thanks.

Stardock support are off for the Holidays as indicated in this forum post - https://forums.wincustomize.com/371710

Could you elaborate on what the issue is with activation?  Did you just purchase ObjectDesktop or renew it?  Did you pay with a credit card or use PayPal?

Stardock is on vacation until Jan. 2, '10.

I don't work there, but if you'd tell us your problem in more detail maybe we could help? Don't forget to put in your system info: copy paste that from WindowBlinds "About" tab. OK?

*Edit...thanx Hankers. I was typing while you were posting.

Well, we purchased 4 licenses through our company's purchasing department (using a Purchase Order). These licenses were given out to the users who went in and registered serials using their own email addresses. After that, users were able to view, download and install the software, but not activate anything. Attempting to activate results in the following error:

Using silent activation with null serial mode.

Application start: 2009-12-28 15.34.32

Silent mode

Mode 2

WARNING: Directory creation error: 183

Error activating the product

Please ensure the serial number entered is associated with the email you used. Try to activate the product again. If using Impulse you can right-click on the product and re-activate. Include this log file if contacting support.

And, we cannot reregister the serial numbers which have already been used. So, I'm trying to reach out to support to see if they can either assign serial numbers to different users or reset them somehow and let us reactivate them under the ordering email address.

This makes me think that the activation app does not have permission to write the sig.bin to activate.  Make sure you're trying to activate under an admin account.

From what I've read on the forums and other sites found through google, it's a serial number issue.

But, just to rule it out, I did run it as an administrator (explicity, on Windows 7). Same error.

I would also attribute this kind of problem to be a permissions issue. In the case of WindowBlinds, try navigating to the WindowBlinds directory (right click it within Impulse and choose Open Application Folder) and run SevenConfig.exe directly (using the right-click -> Run As Administrator). This should be located within Program Files (Program Files (x86) on 64-bit)\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds.

At that point, it should prompt for activation and you can use Ctrl+C (Copy) and Ctrl+V (Paste) to fill out the email and serial number fields appropriately.

I have following "activation" files:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Fences\SDActivate.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\DeskScapes3\activate.exe

For Both of them, running as admin or otherwise, doesn't do anything.
