1680 x 1050 in Entrenchment???

Hi All

New to the world of Sins, but enjoyed my first few hours on the original release so much that I went and bought the add on today - Entrenchment.

Got it installed and working alright, but when I go to the options screen, I don't get an option for my native resolution - 1680 x 1050 - nearest I get is 1600 x 900, which looks kinda funky on my widescreen monitor.

Odd thing is my original version of the game lets me pick 1680 x 1050 from the options menu and works fine with it, but Entrenchment - no such option.

I've had a look around but can't see to find anyone else who has had this problem, so if someone could offer me some guidance that would be great. As far as I know I'm patched to the latest versions using Impulse.

Hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance!

strange. It should be able to support a resolution as high as your monitor can go.

And 1680x1050?!?!?!?!?! That's GIANORMOUS!!8(| :O 8| :D  :dur:

I have 1680x1050 laptop and it is wired that you can't access 1680x1050 cause it works for me, I rarely play original sins and I most run ether dipolmacy or entrenchment.

and whiskey 1680x1050 isn't that big, if I run Autodesk Maya, I sometimes have to attach another monitor much larger... even then it is very small when you are doing texturing and kinametics

it seems huge, considering my old laptop is a 1280x800, and my current one is a 1366x768 (and the 1st time I figured out my old ones screen res, it's almost like, WTH?!?! Did I just get jipped?!?!)

I have been looking into getting an external monitor for my 2nd laptop. This monitor would have a screen res (preferably) of at least 1280x1024. Mostly because I would use it to play a specific game.

I have know similar problem when i have install the game with Linux... the workaround for Linux will work with windows...

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\"YourUserNameHere"\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting and open the user.setting with your notepad...

At the top of the file, replace the value you see by the following :

VideoFullScreenWidth 1680
VideoFullScreenHeight 1050
VideoWindowedWidth 1024
VideoWindowedHeight 768

... save and start a game...

It don't resolve the problem, it is only a workaround... i have no idea why your game have these problem...

Thanks for the posts and help.

I've actually realised that I had solved this unintentionally, but the advice above will come in handy if any future updates / patches break it, so I've noted that down Thoumsin, thanks.

BEFORE I got Entrenchment, 1680 x 1050 was offered as a resolution on the video menu. I set it as that when I was playing the original Sins, and it worked no problems. However, once I downloaded Entrenchment, and ran it, the 1680 x 1050 option wasn't on Entrenchments video resolution list, and it was displaying in 1024 x 768 (looked really stretched out on my monitor).

Whats weird is that when I launched the original Sins (I was gonna play the original until someone came up with a way to fix my resolution issue), the "Get Entrenchment" link that I had had changed to "Play Entrenchment". I figured I'd check the video resolution options on the original version to make sure I had it set right. The strange thing was that even in the original version, 1680 x 1050 was no longer an option on the resolution, yet the screen was displaying in 1680 x 1050  (smooth textures / proper sized text / clear images etc). I pressed "Play Entrenchment" and it re-loaded the game, let me into Entrenchment, and carried my settings over, so Entrenchment is now playing in 1680 x 1050.

Really weird I know, and I've no explaination for it, but hey, least it seems to be working for now!

Thanks for the swift responses. And yeah, 1680 x 1050 isn't so big - Monitor is only 22 inches. :P
