Adding Mod Dynamic combat system to sins as normal

https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/341567

i would love it so much if stardock put the mod Dynamic combat system in the game itself, without a mod.

DO NOT REPLY if you havent played the mod are at least gone to the link and looked at the videos, the ships would not change the only thing that would change is it would drasticaly improve the combat system and make it hollywood worthy.

note:

i am not the mod maker

it is a beta so if you use it it could have unforseen issues.

:)  Manshooter would need to get paid for the work he put into the Dynamic system mod, but i think they will leave it this way, as a mod, they dont have to support it. :(

I think that is one reason why they made the game "moddable" anyway, they wanted the player base to run with the game. The difficulty lies in only having the ability to mod just so far. Alot of the modders want to do things we cant do with just the tools we have now.

Campaigns, going from map to map with the same forces intact. There hasn't been an update on the Galaxy Forge Tools since 1.03 and even then i dont know if Entrenchment or Diplomacy would be editable using those tools.

I agree that Dynamic mod and Manshooter's Volumetric Damage Effects mod are almost "requirements" for the game now. It is easy to get used to all the beauty and the sheer spectacle he put into them.

its a mod because you personally don't like it? .... well you really must be important, reveal your secret identity sir!

@Teal_Blue- GalForge and Particle Forge still work with Entrenchment. They also probably still work the Diplomacy (a modification based on the new GalaxyScenario file will probably in order to spawn Envoy ships and other Diplo goodies from map start).

As the creator of the DM portion of the Distant Stars mod, most people like the dynamic movement, however it does consume more ram than if you aren't running one without the DM.

I personally like DM, if you look at any space battles, be it in ST, SW, B5, etc...all of the ships are moving not just standing like European style of fighting in the 15th century.

I was saying its a mod b/c not everyone likes it. I happen to be one of those. While its cool to see your ships moving and such I found it annoying to fight with.

Just b/c is popular doesnt mean it should be made normal for everyone else. If thats the case the I say Distant Stars is required now for everyone.

End of -Ue_Carbon's quote

Gotta agree with Carbon here the reason its a mod at the moment is because the game doesnt actually support moving ships in combat as such the current "Dynamic Movement" is actually turning all ships that have it enabled in to strikecraft the actual mechanic was designed for strikecraft in mind and is also why it is buggy for frigates/cruisers and capital vessels.

If a new mechanic was added to the game for Frigates, Cruisers and Capitals seperately (each would need its own speed, inertia, mass, and velocity etc mechanics applied) it would become more viable. However at the moment there's little chance this will ever come to default SoaSE.
Maybe in SoaSE2 if they ever make it, and if they make the same moddable engine more advanced for us i'd love to see it but for now you're wishing upon a star im afraid mate.
