Windowblinds 7 and Windows 7

I upgraded to Windows 7 and then Windowblinds 7 and I like both of them a lot, but...

If I use a Windowblinds 7 theme and use Windows 7 Slideshow, then I cannot make the Desktop Icons disappear. If I go back to the standard Windows 7 style, then I can make the desktop icons vanish...using right-click->view->show desktop icons. Same thing happens using John's Background Changer.

If I use Steve Murphy's AWC to change the wallpaper, then that problem with the desktop icons goes away. However, the task bar will not stay transparent on a Windowblinds 7 theme as soon as the wallpaper changes...the task bar goes to a solid color. Unless I set the taskbar to auto-hide...which I do not like.

It looks as though Windowblinds 7 is adversely affecting Windows 7 as well as other programs. I like Windowblinds 7 and wish some of these problems could somehow get resolved.

Another piece of collateral damage...there is a logon changer program available at tweaks.com. For the most part, it works great. But, if I have a Windowblinds 7 style displayed, then when I run that tweak program, none of the buttons appear at the bottom of its little window so I can't change anything. So, if I change the style back to the standard aero theme that comes with Windows 7, then the tweak program runs fine.

This has all meant changing the style a lot and I am even starting to have problems with Explorer crashing while I am trying to go back to the Windows 7 style...

While this is not JUST a Stardock problem, it appears to me that Stardock needs to look at these issues.

I was able to reproduce the non hiding desktop icons and will be looking into why this is later this week.

I suspect it is a simple fix.

Having tried AWC here I did not encounter any problems with the taskbar turning solid.  I did find that app doesn't handle multiple monitors well and so left a large chunk of my desktop as solid colour, but that appears to be an app issue not a WB one and the same issue continued without WindowBlinds running.

Same problem here. I just excluded the Tweak Logon Changer from being skinned. Then at least the upper half of the buttons is visible, enough to be used...

Looks like the behaviour of the Windows 7 taskbar confuses WindowBlinds (see seperate thread), needs to be fixed.

It seems just that WB is not yet "Windows 7 ready", maybe a bit early for Stardock to announce it as running under Windows 7.....

Please install WB 7.01 beta.

It should resolve the crash and wallpaper issue.

If it is a BETA, it is expected to have possible bugs. This is why we have betas. If bugs are a problem for you, don't use betas.

@RedneckDude: I guess Nachtuil is talking about the final version (not the beta) that doesent't work properly

@Neil: I can't install the 7.01 beta because this impulse @#!%$! doesen't work either (error "file size", see sep. thread)

Have you retried updating as the 'file size' issue seems to have been fixed. If not, please email support@stardock.com and start a trouble ticket.  The forums are mainly user supported and the 'official' support process is to email or call them.

Going a bit OT now: no, it's not fixed yet. Still the same. I've sent a ticket already for the "Explorer Crash" but Stardock did not bother to answer (yet).
That a new beta version should fix the Explorer crash was only told in the forum. So it looks like the channel using the forum works better than the direct contact with Stardock.
And another ticket? Guess the issue with the file size in Impulse should be more than known at Stardock counting the hits regarding this in Google....

You probably need to uninstall the version you have > reboot > disable anti-spyware/virus > open impulse > click blue button & select preferences > click reset data > allow Impulse to update ( you may need to close Impulse and restart it to complete the update sequence) > install Windowblinds > reboot > re-enable anti-spyware/virus
